Party of Two Agains KIngmaker / Reign of Winter

Advice

Dark Archive

I have two players in the party, and they want to play in a campaign loosely based around KIngmaker/Reign of Winter APs. One of them will be Asimar Cleric and the other one Human Magus. Do you have any suggestion how to give them more staying power? I've thought about allowing them to take up to 2 archetypes for their classes without incurring archetype penalties.

Gestalt? That would give them some staying power... But action economy will not favor them...

Buff the characters and suggest pet classes. If done right, they can feel the disadvantage of being two, but have the means to overcome them.

I have a party of 3 and face the same challenges ,but to a lesser degree. I did the following:
- Increased starting wealth.
- Gave them 25- point buy for attributes.
- Worked with the players in character creation to ensure they had all bases covered (or at least knew where their weaknesses were)
- Gave max HP at first and second level.
- Made sure they were half a level ahead of the AP

We're also talking about implementing Mythic Rules - just the ones from the playtest to begin with.
So far this means I've had to buff the encounters of the third book one of Reign of Winter o.O
