Just bought and downloaded from GOG one of my favorite games of yore: Syndicate Wars from Bullfrog. Many hours of my youth were spent indulging in total mayhem with all sorts of gloriously destructive weaponry and especially trying to collapse a building on top of enemy agents.
I liked SYNDICATE WARS, but not as much as the original SYNDICATE. I think it was because the 3D camera and totally destructible scenery seemed to get in the way of the actual gameplay, and there was definitely a bit of struggling with the controls and camera (whilst the original, being 2D, didn't have that problem). Oddly, I found it more entertaining to play on the PS1 than on the PC.
Both, of course, are vastly superior to the abominable FPS thing from a couple of years ago. What the heck were they thinking?
