Playing a synthesist summoner is not difficult at all. It's simple enough that I'd give a synth pregen to someone who was playing for the first time. Incredibly effective build that takes very little understanding of the rules to play.
Building one (correctly!) is a completely different story.

They're easy to build. The issue is making sure you didn't build it incorrectly.
