An improvised weapon question grab-bag!

I have several questions, here they are.

- If you are trying to specialize in improvised weapons (say a Cad), can you take weapon focus/spec/improved crit, etc with "improvised weapons"?

- If you have quick draw, and catch off guard, can you pick up stuff off the ground as a free action to make using improvised weapons easier?

- the last question is more of a general question. I have not seen this officially yet, but you can use weapons to do combat maneuvers for any maneuver that you could reason out using the weapon for (in order to gain it's bonuses) correct? So you can use your sword or staff to trip someone, or disarm someone. What about dirty trick? It describes the effects as pantsing someone, hitting them in the groin, or giving them a cut over the eye just right so it bleeds and blinds them. Surely you could use your weapon for these things and gain the bonuses?

Thanks!

Now, i know that "catch off guard" just says that you take no non-proficiency penalties to attacks with improvised weapons, but we're interpreting that as having proficiency for the purpose of feats, even though that's not exactly RAW, it's not unreasonable.

Also, since catch off guard allows the usage of pretty much ANYTHING as a weapon, does that mean you can draw anything as a free action? You can use a pewter mug as a 1d4 weapon, can you use quick draw to pull it out faster? A rope? A frying pan?

Nobody?

I don't see any official ruling on some of these, although as a GM, I would rule the following:

- There are a few types of improvised weapons: light, one-handed, two-handed, and possibly thrown. I would allow Weapon Focus/etc. for one of these types.

- You may only use Quick Draw with weapons that are sheathed in some way. This limitation is purely based on this line in Quick Draw: "Alchemical items, potions, scrolls, and wands cannot be drawn quickly using this feat." This leads me to believe that anything that is not a weapon (and not a thrown splash weapon) doesn't benefit from Quick Draw.

- There are no 'dirty trick' weapons, so the bonus wouldn't apply.
