Organized play question(I need a DM ruling)

Pathfinder Society

I play Pathfinder organized play, but I have a question about materials provided. The Official Venture Captain of our area told me that any rules I apply to my characters I must also provide the source material. (He also said that I must be the owner of the material that I show him) I recently became interested in Ioun stones, and discovered Seekers of Secrets, but am having a hell of a time finding a printed copy of it.
(http://www.amazon.com/Pathfinder-Chronicles-Seekers-Secrets-Society/dp/160 1251785 A F*cking hundred dollars??? ARE you kidding ME??) So what I did was buy the PDf off this site. However, I do not have a portable device to use the PDF on.

1. Could I print the relevant parts myself and bring it in, or is this not acceptable?

2. Could I bring a flashdrive and use it on someone else's laptop?

Yes to both.

I just bought Seekers of Secrets. It was not expensive. Just do a search outside of Amazon and you'll find one I'm sure. When I get home I'll try to find the site I used.

I might need some kind of official rules just in case he disagrees.

Nothing your VC said was in error. What makes you think he'd disagree with you on this?

I would just hate to do all this work in adjusting my characters with all this new information only to find that it's not valid then have to undo/ignore it all. It's also not really him that I'm worried about, but less educated GMs.

As a less educated GM myself, I ask for sources whenever someone starts doing something that doesn't sound right as well. If they don't have the source, they can't use that ability/item/feat/whatever. When I play my Tengu, I always bring a copy of the ARG, just in case, especially if playing outside my usual play group.

I just decided to print the whole thing for simplicity

What rules? He said, "You need to buy the book." So you bought the book. You print out any watermarked pages and you have proof of that. You print out the relevant rules that you'll be using, so they can be referenced when you're using the items, and that's the other half of the equation. What rule do you need to support that?

If you have to have something to cite, there's always page 5 of the Guide: "In order to utilize content from an Additional Resource, a player must have a physical copy of the Additional Resource in question, a name-watermarked Paizo PDF of it, or a printout of the relevant pages from it, as well as a copy of the current version of the Additional Resources list."

So ... there ya go.

Former VC here. Printed copies with your watermark are fine.

The watermark proves your ownership with an email and a order number. Those are sufficient when printed out or brought on a digital device. Printed pages from PRD or 3rd party site are not sufficient to prove ownership.

If you own the PDF and print out the pages relevant to your character, you are good to go. It is also good for quick rules reference without taking time to flip through a book.
