Yeah, that's really on the organizers. It's not hard to pull the wool over the eyes of some kids, but the adult leaders should have verified things ahead of time.

I can appreciate a joke, but that's not funny. It bothers me how much hate and mean spirited actions get levelled at Guides and Scouts... the rate of arson attacks, vandalism, and just plain old nasty actions is rather astounding.

Really? I've heard nothing of this. A quick search on "attacks on Scouts" got me stories about a rabid beaver.

Another on "Arson attacks on Boy Scouts" got me a Mosque burning with a link to a different story about Scouts.

Can you point me to something?

The Boy Scouts have been getting bad publicity about the ban on gay scouts, but that's not quite the same.

I know in our area alone the Girl Guides have had their hall burnt once and robbed twice in the last six years. The local Sea Scouts have likewise had two facilities burnt, and the Scouts have had their hall vandalised.

It's surprisingly common.
