Are there official rules for how far from a PC's alignment they are permitted to worship a god? Or for what, outside of active practice as a divine spellcaster, constitutes, exactly, "worship?"

I believe there are no rules for the sort of thing, I doubt any god would actually come down to stop a random person who prayed to them even if they were of the opposing alingment.

If its just worship. there really are no limits. A lawful good person could, at the very least, make offerings to a chaotic evil god. (Generally, to try and avoid misfortune.)

For divine spellcasters, though, you generally have to be within 1 step of the gods alignment. So a Lawful Good person could follow a LG, NG, or LN good.
