Eidolon surprise round pounce yes or no?

Rules Questions

Dark Archive

Ok GM/player disagreement and seeking a definitive yes or no answer from the higher powers (IE the ppl who wrote the rules XD).

OK summoner level 2 Eidolon with the pounce evolution makes the perception check to act and wants to charge the opponent and make a full attack (1 bite, 2 claw attacks) with the use of its evolution having been over the rules and back and forth multiple times could we possibly get a straight yes or no answer if there actually is one?

Sovereign Court

First, this is the wrong section as this question doesn't specifically target Pathfinder Society.

Nevertheless, I made some rules checks. If the eidolon with pounce is restricted to a standard action (staggered, slowed, surprise round etc.) it may make a so called partial charge as a standard action, and gets to make all its attacks as per pounce dictates.

This is confirmed by James Jacobs as well. It's solid RAI and RAW.

Unless this is PFS, you can ban it from your games. But if you want to go by the rules, then it's legal. If you want to make it difficult for the eidolon to get it's pounce, just throw some difficult terrain in there. If it is a homebrew game, you should talk about with the player where he wants to take this character and tell him in advance what does float and what doesn't. Allow him to make his case, and compromise.
