Weapon Cords and Shields

As a Shield is a weapon, can I use a Weapon Cord with a Shield?

Probably, yes.

But you still need to don it as a shield (move action), for it to work as a shield.

Well, faster with a Quickdraw Shield.

Logically, the shield is already strapped to your arm when you use it. Therefore one should not be able to disarm a shield, only sunder.
Guess by RAW you can disarm a shield though.

You can still remove it as a move action.
