Combining Augment Summoning and Summon Minor Ally / Nature's Ally

Augment Summoning gives a +4 STR and +4 CON to anything you summon.

So, my question is, if I summon 1d3 Hawks (tiny animals), their base stats are:

HAWK CR 1/3
XP 135
N Tiny animal
Init +3; Senses low-light vision; Perception +14
DEFENSE
AC 15, touch 15, flat-footed 12 (+3 Dex, +2 size)
hp 4 (1d8)
Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +2
OFFENSE
Speed 10 ft., fly 60 ft. (average)
Melee 2 talons +5 (1d4–2)
Space 2-1/2 ft.; Reach 0 ft.
STATISTICS
Str 6, Dex 17, Con 11, Int 2, Wis 14, Cha 7
Base Atk +0; CMB +1; CMD 9
Feats Weapon Finesse
Skills Fly +7, Perception +14; Racial Modifier +8 Perception

Then they will have a temporary buff to Str 10 and Con 15.
Normally a Str 10 is a +0 modifier to the BAB, weras a 6 is a -2. So would the damage from each hawk then be a straight 1d4?

Would the constitution increase then increase the HP to 6 hp (+2 from a Con of 15 vs a Con of 11)?

When you modify these stats, do they work the same way as a hero?
What about tiny vipers (1d2-2 Plus poison) or Skunks (Musk = nauseous and/or sickened). This is a DC 11 Fort Save, but, "The save DC is Constitution-based, and includes a +2 racial bonus." So by increasing it's constitution from 9 to 13, would this increase the Fort DC of its musk?

Thanks in advance!

The Hawk's Strength would increase to a 10, which will do nothing for attack rolls since it is using Weapon Finesse. However, as you noted, this will change its damage from 1d4-2 to 1d4.

You are correct again on the HP increase. The Hawk has 1 hit dice and +4 con will increase the modifier by 2, so +2 HP (or 6 HP total).

As far as the save DC's go, yes, you would increase the DC based on the new ability score (this is why the statblock lists what controls the DC).

Tack on a Rage spell for more fun.

Excellent, thanks! You're right, I said BAB when I meant "base damage" or the strength modifier to damage. Same to-hit, but more damage. Thanks!

The Superior Summoning feat would add another hawk to the mix, too. Unless you're playing PFS.

The Exchange

I am playing PFS. Wait... it this not PFS legal? :(

Sczarni

Michael Brock has said that Summon Minor Monster only works for the animals mentioned in its text description, and nothing else. Hawk is not one of them, and neither is skunk.

The Exchange

Ah, that's unfortunate. This spell is no longer particularly useful.

Sczarni

You can still summon bats to help find an invisible foe, and three tiny creatures make a very useful living wall to block opponents from reaching you (provided you have Feral Speech).

The Exchange

Oh, wait - but this isn't Summon Minor Monster, it's Summon Nature's Ally

"This spell functions as summon nature's ally I, except you can summon 1d3 Tiny or smaller animals, such as bats, lizards, monkeys, rats, ravens, toads, or weasels. The summoned animals must all be the same type of creature."

So did he say specifically that it was restricted to only those things? You're probably right, or else you'd be able to summon three poisonous frogs or toads.

Sczarni

Yup. Just what's listed.
