Carnivorous Crystal Damage

I was just looking through the oozes when I came across the Carnivorous crystal. It is a medium ooze with a slam at +18 dealing (7d8+9/18-20 plus entrap). At least this is what it says on the SRD.
Is this its actual damage or was this just a mistake on the SRD?

It is a CR 11 creature with one attack. It seems about right.

I forgot to look at the CR, and was just surprised by a creature having that many damage dice to an attack

Just be glad it's not Intelligent. The Vital Strike line of feats would look scary on it (improved vital strike = 102.5 average damage).

So what you're saying is that a variant Carniverous Crystal that not only devours the body, but also the mind of it's victims is the way forward. Sure it'd be as crazy as all hell from it sentience forged of shattered personalities and unfulfilled dreams...

My players just fought one of these things last week. They're glad of this as well...
