1) Is a horse or pony summoned via summon monster spells combat trained? I ask because I'm wondering if they keep their docile ability or not.

2) Do animals that are summoned with either the celestial, entropic, fiendish, or resolute templates become magical beasts or do they remain animals? The text for summon monster I says specifically "This spell summons an extraplanar creature (typically an outsider, elemental, or magical beast native to another plane)" but the actual templates you apply to such creatures don't mention a type change (or even adding the extraplanar subtype). They add darkvision, which is a trait of magical beasts, but don't say anything about changing base attack bonus or Hit Die

It should be the normal version of the horse or pony..

They remain animals. Unlike in 3.5 the template does not change their type. The text says typically, and that is the only reason it is not incorrect.

Actually the fact that it says "typically" is incorrect, as there are no magical beasts on any of the lists for summon monster.

1) As Wraithstrike said, the horse or pony is as described in the Bestiary plus any templates. It's not trained for combat or anything else, although since it attacks your enemies and can be commanded to attack particular enemies, it might be reasonable to treat it as having the Attack trick twice.

Looks like a copy and paste error from 3.5 then.

Yeah, that is the problem.
