Joss does Much Ado About Nothing

So, a lot of you have already heard about it, but the theatrical trailer is now out.

I am looking forward to it.

say wha? this is very different from his usual work... and the trailer actualy looks like the movie is going to be nigh unwatchable. Damn.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

for the first time, the title of a project matches the director's reception PERFECTLY...

Much Ado is my favorite Shakespearean play, thanks largely to the Ken Branagh/Emma Thompson version. Can't wait to see this one!

This was done a couple of years ago. Apparently his way of celebrating the completion of The Avengers filming was to spend 12 days at his house with a bunch of friends filming this.

Just goes to show that if you make a studio a gazillion dollars from a record-breaking blockbuster, then they'll produce anything you make.

That said, I'll probably see it when it hits Netflix, just to see his take on the play. It will be hard-pressed to even come close to Branagh's version though. (Though I still cannot, for the life of me, understand how Keanu Reeves got himself into that movie.)

If I were you I would be conrened about this. A raving, mindless fan base is easy to ignore or disregard. A fan base capable of distinguishing the good from the bad is one you have to credit, since you cannot just shrug them off as, "well, they'd take anything their idol gives them".

Rave reviews from the festival circuit and critics.

Who to believe?

Yeah, me too. I can't watch this trailer because I'm in the library though. Curses!

I'm also being continually being f!#*ed around by this "digital theatre" thing online that has filmed the David Tennant production in London a few years ago. (I was IN London and couldn't go and I am still broken up over it). First they wouldn't accept my card and now that I've payed for it I cannot watch it. Has anyone else seen it? Is it worth all the frustration?

Both. What was the last critic and festival movie that was good?

lol one of the reviews they put up was something like "this should please almost everyone" ...that type of lukewarm praise makes me want to go see it.

and none of the acting can be worse than Keanu Reeves doing shakespear...although Fred and wesley I can't imagine will be much better. I like Wesley for how he developed and his role but Shakespearean actors?

Maybe Marsters and the Giles guy. I'll even include the Drusilla actress. The rest (as much as I like the show) noooo way.

I did notice they only had three people speaking lines in the entire trailer. They showed Nathan Fillion several times but not a peep out of him...

Well, you actually had 4.

So...i should disregard this?

Are Whedon fans raving and mindless?

Many of them rave about Joss' work and act mindless when doing so. Not all of them, but many. Enough for Freehold to recognize a justifiable stereotype.

Hmmm... could be worth a viewing. But I am often disappointed by shows that have been remade over and over again. Maybe I will let someone else pay for me to watch it, that way I am not overly upset if it's disappointing.
