Rules Questions

When casting Animated Object spell do you get to augmentate the animated objects with the construction points?

Yes. Why wouldn't you?

I thought that those point would only count if you were building a construct.

Would be a pretty boring animated object then :) Enjoy your new temporary flying/burrowing/hardened minion(s)!

How many Construct points do you get?

It depends on the size of the Animated Object.

What I want to know, is what do you do if you animate, say a small adamantine object? You don't have enough points to give it the hardness of adamantine...except that it's already made of adamantine...

Can I make a wooden object have the hardness of stone or metal? Do I HAVE to spend the points to make a metal object possess the hardness of metal?

Rules are a little vague here I think.

It seems weird that there are rules for getting more construct points by increasing CR when CR doesn't factor into any of the ways of animating objects.
