For anyone wanting to play a character worshipping evil gods - I suggest to read Nightglas. This gives a great description of worship of an evil and deprived God - in this case Zon Kuthon.
Once you read it - ask yourself - how do you fit in and can you truly follow two masters - the Pathfinder Society as well as your god.
I agree - Asmodeus is likely one of the few that work well due to his LE alignment and because Cheliax made him socially acceptable - at least in some regions of the inner sea.

Excerpts from Gods And Magic (p.24-25)
"A priest (cleric, druid, adept, or even a thaumaturge) must make sure the members of his tribe are strong in their faith, tend to their physical injuries (especially those whose deformities are a significant hinderance), and spiritually guide them. Her priests use magic, faith, and flesh to soothe disputes and settle arguments. They typically have multiple children from different partners over the course of a lifetime and mate often as part of their ministering. This promiscuity is expected in the same way that a cleric is expected to heal a physical wound."
"Most priests have strong ties to their community and aren't encountered alone.A typical day for a priest involves blessing the tribe's food, prayer, performing rites for pregnant tribe members, and examining the tribe's livestock. They usually help with other tasks as appropriate to ability, such as hunting or preparing food."
Not entirely crazy...

Mostly I wanted a character with the Madness domain and don't like most of the other gods who have it.
Have you considered the separatist archetype?
|
|
You want the Madness Domain. So this is more mechanical then flavor. I suggest you choose the Lost Prince, an eldest, who is legal and Neutral. No one will give you a hard time.
Or Tsukiyo! My gf has a priestess of Tsukiyo with Madness and Darkness. And Tsukiyo is actually Lawful Good.

You can find Lost Prince in the The Inner Sea World Guide (Only legal source for the Lost Prince).
And Tsukiyo is in Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Dragon Empires Gazetteer or Pathfinder Player Companion: Dragon Empires Primer.

Have you considered joining your light to that of the lantern king? We have the madness domain, cookies, and minimal supervision thanks to our god only having a one paragraph blurb in the inner sea world guide.
Wheeeeeeeeeee

Don't get me wrong, I also really like the god. I am not just picking a god for a power.
You shouldn't feel like you have to make a CYA post like this. Some people decide who their character is first, then what he can do. Some decide what he can do and then let that define who he is.
If it is more fun for you to pick something he can do and then define his non-mechanical features, that's perfectly legit. We all have to be inclusive of what different players find fun as long as it doesn't break the rules.

As an Inquisitor of the Reformed Church of Rovagug, I FEEL QUALIFIED TO KILL ALL OF YOU.
I also feel qualified to answer your question, as it may bring you closer to the truth THAT WE ALL WILL DIE AND THAT MOST OF YOU WILL DO SO AT MY MASTER'S HAND!
I am able to spread the blessings of Rovagug to the world through my involvement in the Pathfinder Society. In fact, the Pathfinder Society has provided me with several opportunities to rain down the blessings of Rovagug upon the heads of the non-followers, that I might not have ever gotten as a simple Cultist hidden in a sewer of Absalom.
Not that there are any of us down there....
But I digress, the opportunity for travel, and there for mission work in the service of my master has been invaluable in spreading his simple message that EVERYONE WILL DIE to people all over Avistan.
More importantly, our regular incursions into Undead haunted tombs allow me to ensure that my master's will is done and that WHAT I KILL STAYS DEAD.
In closing, I'd like to thank you for this opportunity to share how my faith in Rovagug has helped in my career as a Pathfinder. May the blessings of Rovagug fall upon your head repeatedly.
And oh yes, I almost forgot "CONVERT OR DIE! CONVERT AND DIE! IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE ALL WILL DIE!"

Playing a Cleric of Lamashtu shouldn't actually be that difficult to make party friendly, if you stick to Chaotic Neutral. Remember, she's the goddess of Madness. It's entirely possible that granting powers to a very confused and possibly insane cleric is just one of her crazy whims. Your CHARACTER doesn't need to know why she grants you power. Lamashtu knows, and that's good enough!
Alternately, Lamashtu is known for picking a fight with damned near everyone. Perhaps your cleric is using her power (going a little mad as a result, of course) to battle other demonic and infernal influences?
Of course, then there is my favorite. The idea that the Mother of Monsters is the crucible in which the sentient races will be ground into something pure and usable in the god's never ending conflict against the Beings from Between The Stars. Lamashtu values strength, and by battling her spawn, the races of the world will learn to be STRONG!
Oh, oh, I know! Lamashtu is pissed at the worshippers of this generation, and has chosen a few relatively unaffiliated souls to grant power, so the new guys can show the established cults how rea-kicking is really done.
Oooh, perhaps the crazy old biddy found something in the depths of the Abyss that hints to her demise, and has chosen a mortal agent to block this prophecy from fruition! Or perhaps that's just what the crazy deformed guy on the edge of town THINKS is happening, but really he's just crazypants.
I'm just trying to point out that while, yeah, playing a ravening murderous cultists probably isn't very party friendly, a goddess of madness is probably willing to accept all KINDS of worshipers.
