Hey all, I'm a beginner to Pathfinder, still reading through the online books and the few physical copies I've ordered, so please forgive if this is a stupid question: when reading over classes, I first got attracted to the Sorcerer Aberrant bloodline due to the RP possibilities. Anyway, when I started thinking about the combat aspect of it, I think I may have made a mistake.
The Long Limbs ability: "At 3rd level, your reach increases by 5 feet whenever you are making a melee touch attack. This ability does not otherwise increase your threatened area. At 11th level, this bonus to your reach increases to 10 feet. At 17th level, this bonus to your reach increases to 15 feet."
I took that to mean, once again due to not really understanding the rules well enough, essentially not knowing how touch attacks worked, that this meant that I could perform a melee attack from further away. Knowing that, I started thinking about multiclassing into a Fighter, and got pretty far into creating the backstory and RP of a Sorcerer/Fighter with a long reach.
I fear that I'm completely wrong. Am I? Does Long Limbs only apply to touch spells? If so, is there anyway that I can use what I wrote above, using Long Limbs for melee attacks?
I'm fine if I'm completely wrong, I just don't want my story creation to go to waste.
Thank you

It only counts for melee touch attacks, which barring special abilities and stuff like that, is only spells. Your normal melee attacks only threaten your natural range (5ft) and you can only attack at that range, unless you have a reach weapon, have the Lunge feat, or are enlarged. There are other ways as well but for your bloodline the "long limbs" doesn't work for your attacks, sorry bud.

Your normal melee attacks only threaten your natural range (5ft) and you can only attack at that range, unless you ... have the Lunge feat ...
Lunge (Combat)
You can strike foes that would normally be out of reach.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: You can increase the reach of your melee attacks by 5 feet until the end of your turn by taking a –2 penalty to your AC until your next turn. You must decide to use this ability before any attacks are made.
Emphasis, mine.
Unfortunately, this specific example is not correct. Lunge does not allow you to increase your threatened range - it only lasts until the end of your turn.
