Requesting aid for an Intimidate-Barbarian Build

Advice

A new game I am playing in, I was wondering if anyone would like to help me - full builds are not necessary, but if you like, by all means. Again, this is an intimidating-style Barbarian Build/

A few notes - For role-playing reasons, I am a Half-Orc and wielding a Falchion (a fun Orc-like weapon, and gives access to critical feats later if I like with a 15 threat range). Currently, I have this (Invulnerable Rager to level 20)-

Vital Statistics (20-point buy)

STR 18 (Racial +2)
DEX 12
CON 14
INT 12
WIS 13
CHA 8

Sacred Tattoo Replaces Ferocity

I realize INT 12 is very poor overall, but I like the idea of being more than a reckless brute. I may be convinced to drop it to 10. Particularly if rage rounds stop being an issue later on. I've never seen a high-level Barbarian in action. Do you find rage rounds to be an issue? If not, I can drop INT to 10 and take favored class in skills. Also, 7 CHA is not an option for me.

Feats and Rage Powers (Feats at odd level, Rage Powers at even)

Level 1 - Skill Focus (Intimidate)?
Level 2 - Intimidating Prowess (Pre-req for the cool one)
Level 3 - Power Attack
Level 4 - Beast Totem, Lesser
Level 5 - Keen Scent
Level 6 - Beast Totem
Level 7 - (At a loss here - Improved Sunder?)
Level 8 - Terrifying Howl

...That's really all I'm up to. I considered keeping Ferocity for the Ferocious Tenacity feat, but once a day is kinda meh. I'm also having trouble just finding stuff that scares people. Seems like after shaking them Terrifying Howl is the last step (though panicked is awesome). I also seem to remember a feat that let you intimidate enemies for free if you drop one - am I imagining things?

Thoughts and help are greatly appreciated.

Dazzling Display is what you're looking for, along with Gory Finish that comes off of it (you can have a lot of fun with that one. It's description is that you kill people in hilariously creative and gruesome ways and then it intimidates people).

You may wanna drop Int to 10 and bump up your Con (for moar Rage) or Cha (so you don't have that automatic -1 to Intimidate even with the Str added). But the idea of the "cultured Barbarian" is always a nice one to play out.

Scarred Rager sounds like a fitting archetype.

Dominator and Unnatural Presence are good traits for this.

Since I happen to have a intimidate barbarian played up to 12th, I know just what you need. First of all, the intimidate rage powers are mostly a waste of perfectly good actions. What you need is the AMAZING feat known as Cornugon Smash. This allows you to preserve action economy and damage through intimidating on power attacks.

The next step is a bit feat intensive, but worth it. WF: Falchion. Dazzling Display (never use this, it's just a prereq) for the grand ability: Shatter Defenses. To achieve this a bit faster I'd strongly suggest getting the bite alternate racial ability (or trait).

For RPs, I suggest the whole Beast Totem chain, superstition (to get Ghost Rager because I'm paranoid about incorporeals), and the whole AM Barbarian bit. For theme, I would suggest the No Escape. You are death come knocking. You can't escape death no matter how afraid you are.

I misread the topic title as "Intimate-Barbarian Build" and was very confused yet intrigued.

Scary barbarian very intimate when gets up in face and STARTS SCREAMING ABOUT WHERE HE'LL ACCIDENTALLY MISPLACED YOUR SPLEEN IN HIS SWORD. And when you crying and wishing for end, spilling the delicious beans, he will cradle your head against his chest, whisper soothing words like good momma orc, and flex, CRUSHING PUNY SKULL BETWEEN MIGHTY SLABS OF MEET.

...what is an intimate?

Grand Lodge

The idea of a Barbarian who constantly violates personal space, and speaks in a breathy whisper is both intimate, and intimidating.

Thanks for all the aid guys. I wouldn't have found any of this stuff without your help. Gave me a lot to think about.

I completely forgot the feat intimidating prowess. Another feat would be really helpful here, but I'm too into an Orc right now. So the new build is -

Quote:

Half-Orc Scarred Rager Intimidate Barbarian

Vital Statistics (20-point buy)

STR 18 (Racial +2)
DEX 12
CON 15 (Increased to 16 to level 4)
INT 10
WIS 13
CHA 8

Sacred Tattoo replaces Ferocity

Feats and Rage Powers

1st-level: Weapon Focus: Falchion
2nd-level: Hurling, Lesser (For Hurling Charge - Axe throw Charge go!)
3rd-level: Power Attack
4th-level: Elemental Rage, Lesser
5th-level: Dazzling Display
6th-level: Hurling Charge
7th-level: Cornugon Smash
8th-level: Elemental Rage
9th-level: Shatter Defenses
10th-level: Powerful Blow
11th-level: Gory Finish
12th-level: Come and Get Me

And beyond that, more research is needed. But this has me set up for a few months at least. Thanks for all the help, everyone. Any more suggestions you have, let me know.

You're going to have to talk to your GM about scarred an invulnerable, they both replace uncanny dodge, trap sense, and improved uncanny dodge.

Also, I forgot to mention this feat earlier, but you pretty much always need raging vitality. It is the one feat (unless you take Diehard) that every single barbarian needs.

Well, if you are facing good/neutral monsters, the Greater Fiend Totem will automatically make them shaken, allowing you to skip checks entirely. It works nicely with Shatter Defenses. I've sketched such a character up a while ago, if it might be of interest to you:

I was just going to take Scarred - suits the character better. Hopefully I can convince our Mystic Theruge to take Inscribe Magical Tattoo and get those all over to go along with my Sacred Tattoo.

I see that. I'll totally take it at some point. Thanks.
