[Halp Plz] question on the format of attacks from monsters

Rules Questions

Alright so I'm kinda new to this and I have been trying to figure this out. ex. Format: bite +5 (1d6+1) or 4 tentacles +0 (1d4+1) or bite +15 (2d6+7). what does the +5 after bite mean? same thing with the +0 after tentacles and the +15 after the second bite

That is the Attack roll modifier, otherwise known as their 'plus to hit'.

So, the first one:

+5 to the roll on a D20 to hit, must equal or beat the target's AC.
If you do, you then roll 1D6 damage, and add +1 to the total from the D6.

See, I was kinda thinking that, but so do you add the monster's base attack bonus to the roll too?

No no, the base attack bonus (BAB) and such has already been taken into account in that modifier.

the +X after the "weapon" (in this case weapon is bite) is the bonus to hit you add to the d20 roll.

Lamontius is correct...the bonuses (and penalties if any) have already been added in to the +X that is given.

If you want further information on that particular set of attacks then you will have to tell me the creature its from or post the stat blocks :)

o ok, cool. thanks a lot man
