Merfolk in Carrion Crown

Advice

Grand Lodge

Dear Paizo,

I had a PC death in CC last week. The player asked if his new character could be a strongtailed merfolk dragon disciple. What's the best way to kill him (the person not the character)?

Thanks

Please, oh please convince him to play a Gillman instead.

I'd turn the horror up to 11 before you could say 'Innsmouth'.

I'm just gonna assume you are serious. Don't.

If you have the Advanced Race Guide, point him to the Undine instead. That class has a fully amphibious racial option and is fairly well balanced with standard race options -- certainly more so than the merfolk (overpowered if mobile on land) or the gillman (seriously underpowered).

Undine are only goods casters though.

Nothing wrong with Merfolk, A Barbarian Merfolk has a 25ft movement speed.

The easiest answer is "No." You can offer him other options, but bottom line he will have a character that cannot ride and cannot walk fast. This is not good for the party in a campaign where travel (and fast travel) is mandatory.
