(Apologies, this post is here because it contains spoilers. It might better be in general discussion but because of the spoilers I thought it might be better here)
Last Satuday i played in a the scenario Cultist's Kiss (thoroughly enjoyable). After being told that we needed to infiltrate a cult, and getting nearly killed by some not so ordinary orderly at a funny farm (sanitarium), we donned our robes and participated in the Lissalan rites. My character is not particular religous, however we had a Cleric of Sarenrae in the party.
The initiation requires you to answer Lissala when you are asked who is your master and the Cleric of Sarenrae said this. It got me to thinking. Obviously a Paladin wouldnt be able to go along with this (not to mention the parts later on). How about a Cleric? Are they simply just lying to get the job done or does the statement of 'Lissala' cause some divine atonement issues. It was also the Cleric who was offered the gift of undeath if they killed the Gnomish sorc. Of course this didnt happen, It just feels that this would be a very difficult module in particular for a Paladin.
As to Lissala. Is this God/Goddess 'Evil'? I know she started off good, but is she now 'evil' because her followers appear to be or are they simply evil followers of a 'neutral' god. I know there are no 'stats' for Lissala but from what I have played of Season 4 I get a very .. mixed message about her and wanted some clarification.
My Musket Master now has Lissala's rune as a reminder of the scenario, but many questions about the God remain.

I really do not understand th Lissala = evil. I can easily understand some of her cults being evil, but absolutely nothing about her jumps out as evil, and I could have sworn that he was originally presented as LN, which she seems very firmly as, if not with some LG leanings. I really don't gt it outside of a wonky plot device. It's kind of like she is stuck in some sort of logic that she is forced to assume what her "followers" believe, but it's been stated that that is not how it works in Golarion, nor do deities die off or weaken if they do not have worshipers.
That being said, I would say that yes, except for deities and faiths based on deception, that a Paladin and Cleric, (definetly of Sarenrae, no question) would have a real issue, and this wouldn't be something that just handwaving "I'm a Pathfinder so it's okay". It wouldn't cause an issue with alignment as much as it is an active disavowel of their own faith. More of an issue with Cleric's than Paladin's, slightly, as the Paladin can still function without a patron deity.
