I tried searching the treads but all I could find was, "Natural Weapons and Manufactured Weapons, Multiattack and Natural Weapons, etc etc etc. The question I have is, if I make a tiefling with the Maw or Claw (maw) alternate racial trait and weild no weapons, does my bite deal 1d6+(1.5str) or just 1d6+(1str)? I'm confused because technically I can still punch with my fists (not a monk so provoking AoOs), but this doesn't mean I'm going to ever use them. I know that once I get Aspect of the Beast (claws) I will only be given 1d6(+1str), but what about before the claws?

Once you punch with your fists you count as having made an attack with a weapon and your Bite is treated as a Secondary Attack, but your Unarmed Strike is not a Natural Weapon, and being able to make one doesn't impact the above linked rule. Technically, any creature can make an unarmed strike. A wolf could shoulder slam you, a horse could headbutt you, etc.
As long as the only attack you make that round is with your Bite, and you do not possess any other natural attacks, you get STR x 1.5.
The moment you grow a pair of claws though, your bite goes down to only adding your STR x1 to damage, even if it's the only natural attack you attack with that round. It's a little bit of a weird rules interaction, but it is what it is.

So what if I havea shield on one hand, does that fact that it could be used for a shield smash count as having a manufactured weapon? Or would it only apply if I used the shield smash? Just wanting to cover my bases if my GM asks. Thanks guys!
Having a shield in hand won't impart any penalties to your Natural Attack unless actually used to make an attack. That actually applies to any weapon. As long as you don't actually use it that round, it doesn't impact your natural attacks. Although, if you are using the hand that a claw attack is attached to to hold a shield or sword, you won't be able to attack with it (the claw, that is).

You could with a buckler though right? Just incase I needed the AC boost temporarily.
Yeah, you'd just take the -1 penalty to your attack and wouldn't get the AC bonus in the same round you attack with that claw.
...
Actually I think technically it says "while wielding a weapon..." in regards to the attack penalty...
You know what, there may be some wiggle room here, but I'd plan on taking the -1 to attacks with your claw if you've got a buckler on that arm as I'm sure that that is what is intended here.

If you have one single natural attack (unarmed does not count) it counts as 1.5x strength.
BUT, if you make a weapon attack either unarmed or with a manufactured weapon THEN your natural attack suffers a -5 penalty and you only do 0.5x strength (for that round).
Summary:
Single attack with the only natural weapon you possess = full BAB and 1.5x strength.
Make an attack with a non-natural weapon and natural weapon(s) then the natural weapon(s) are at BAB-5 and 0.5x strength.
Example:
Creature has a bite attack (only natural weapon) and a greatsword.
Round 1: The creature charges and attacks with the greatsword (normal charge attack).
Round 2: The creature attacks with the greatsword (normally) and also attacks with the bite (-5 attack penalty and 0.5x strength).
Round 3: The creature has been grappled. His greatsword is now useless so he relies upon his bite attack which is has no penalty and 1.5x strength.

Weirdly though, if the guy in that example grows a pair of claws, the bite in Round 3 only does 1x STR.
Natural weapons is weird.
Also, Heya Gauss! Long time no speaky.
