Oh look, another Witcher character

Ok, here we go.

Human 4 Ranger (Infiltrator)/16 Alchemist (Internal Alchemist)

Str 15
Dex 16+2
Con 14
Int 15
Wis 13
Cha 12

Traits: Spiritual Forester, Cynic

(A=Alchemist, R=Ranger)

1 R1: Human Feat (Exotic Weapon Proficiency [Bastard Sword]), Feat (Weapon Focus [Bastard Sword]), Favored Enemy (Magical Beasts)
2 A1:
3 R2: Combat Style Feat (Power Attack), Feat (Furious Focus)
4 A2: Discovery/Bonus Feat (Alertness)
5 R3: Feat (Uncanny Alertness)
6 A3:
7 R4: Hunter's Bond (Companions), Feat (Diehard)
8 A4: Discovery (Lingering Spirit)

That's all I got so far. So my questions.

1) Level split alright? I could also take Ranger to 6 for an extra combat style feat and favored enemy, but I'd lose 6th level extracts.
2) Stats good? I was thinking of adding to Str at 4, 8, 12, and 20, then Int at 16, with this config.
3) Is EWP worth it? I'd mostly always be two handing it anyway, but you never know. If not, what should I replace it with?
4) Favored enemy is magical beasts for flavor, but is there some other subtype that would be thematic? I was thinking possibly monstrous humanoids or something.
5) Any misc comments?

Thanks.

Ok, I apologize in advance as this is more of a question than an outright answer. Why Internal? Bonus feats in place of discoveries? Also looks like you are going more melee yes? IF so have you checked out vivisectionist?

I have. While the rougeishness of Vivisectionist is nice, this guy's not a rouge. I picked Internal Alchemist because it has much more survivability, and is more thematic what with the whole Witcher concept and all.

Also: why was this moved to Conversions? I'm not converting from/to any system, just making a character with a particular theme. Please move it back unknown forum deity.

Soldier,
Now at least I know why I couldn't find this thread anymore.

As for Vivisectionist just because he gains backstab does not mean he's a rogue, it could just represent a proper knowledge of anatomy in or to do the most amount of damage. Deathwatch is a useful spell if you don't have the correct knowledges in helping to identify certain creatures. At 3rd lvl Vivisectionist you get to use your knowledge nature which you should have being a ranger in place of your heal check. Also you get additional spells that specifically used on animals. Also considering your wisdom mod you may want to choose animal companion.
An extra body to attack/scout/be a meat shield, keep watch etc vs you spending a move action to give only allies within 30ft half your bonus for 1 round.
Also you CAN have more than 1 archetype.
Now the reason I asked if this was a melee build is because you don't seem to be spending ANY feats required for bombing. Which is fine, I did something rather similar and went with vivisection because if I'm not going to focus on that at least enough that I don't hinder my own party members I should take something to replace it.

Spiritual Forester was taken for Knowledge Planes? I'm a fan of taking traits that give me more class skills (not just skill points)

Also if melee focused I would do Str 16, dex drop by 1, at higher levels you are going to get hit more often and if need be your mutagen can be dex based (+2ac from dex, +2 natural armor).
EWP I think is fine if you are thinking about TWF and in that would be even more reason to go vivisectionist.

surviveability: extra discoveries preserve organs by 3 discoveries/feats there is a 75% chance that no one can crit or sneak attack you.
I took Heart of the fields, bonus to survival, and you become MUCH more harder to kill.
Also I know this sounds WRONG but int 14 with a melee build is fine and you could boost your wisdom.

Btw I flagged your post, hopefully they put it back into the Advice category.

BTW I'm completely unfamiliar with what a witcher is (sorry).
One other thing if you swap your classes that you take at level 3 & 4 and change your feats, you can have all 3 preserve organs by level 5 which adds to the whole surviveability you are looking for.

Why did you choose alertness/uncanny alertness? Both the skills they tweak are class skills for you so you would be doing rather well and even better vs your favored enemy. I understand wanting to boost perception (skill focus would save you a feat AND give a better bonus)

My google-fu is just fine (looked up Witcher). Now I understand your not wanting to take vivisectionist.

A lot of the reasons you posit are good, but not applicable as you later noted.

My goal is to have all the skills be class skills =P (not really, but it'd be cool)

I am melee focused, but Witchers are also supposed to be unnaturally quick and perceptive, to the point that they can detect and react to things that not only normal humans don't notice, they can't notice. Which is why the Alertness and Uncanny Alertness. Also been thinking about switching EWP for Improved Initiative or Lightning Reflexes. But yeah, that's the reason for the high dex. And if I put int at 14 then I'll either have to put two points into it or lose out on the 5th and 6th level extracts, which I am loath to do.

Really like the Preserve Organs idea.

Thanks.

Soldier,
I think skill focus perception would fit your theme w/o that feat heavy. Also putting 1 improvement into int only at level 16 brings you to 15 being able to cast level 5 extracts. I wouldn't worry about not being able to cast 6th level as you would only be able to do so at level 20.
Improved initiative will provide the "reacting" faster. Also dex based mutagens and greater mutagens etc. would be what you want to focus on.
Also look into spontaneous healing combined with healing hands, with lingering spirit you ALMOST become unkillable.
Also no clue if this fits the build but level 6 alchemist can choose wings as a discovery, while this may or may not sound cool but it IS an extraordinary ability which means it'll work in non magic areas

Two feats for +5 to two different skills plus a +2 save to sleep and charms vs one feat for +6 to one skill. Seems worth it to me.

I have seen spontaneous healing and am pretty excited about it.

Ok, missed the +2 vs sleep/charm. At later levels you may want to invest Iron Will chain of feats. Being hard to kill is great until someone mind whammys you and your now against your party.
Are you planning on getting any bomb discoveries?

Not really. I'm mostly working on getting my melee potential as high as possible given the constraints.

Mummification along with the three Preserve Organs discoveries goes a long way to improving your durability.

If you don't mind a tumor, pick up the tumor familiar discovery and the Die for the Master feat that goes with it in the immediate following level. The tumor can take a blow for you - potentially quite a few depending on how tough you are - and it fast heals 5 when it's attached to you.

Was planning on getting Mummification, can easily be reflavored to fit with the Witcher concept. Tumor, not so much =P

Thanks.

Is there a way in the game to craft a witcher sword made of multiple metals? (silver, cold iron & adamantine) Or would that be a DM decision?

Never mind, just need to be neutral, have a adamantine sword and take the feat improved weapon of the chosen. Done.
