Advice

If you had a tiefling with large sized arms, could he dual weild mithril greatswords at no extra penalty?

mithril has no impact on weapon size category. It might make sense to make them finessable, but it would be a house rule.

No.

He could dual-wield Large-sized Longswords at no penalty (besides the penalty for using two one-handed weapons), though, I believe.

Oh well, it was a stupid idea anyway.

Look into the Titan Mauler Barbarian archetype. You take -2 to hit, but you can wield a greatsword in one hand as if it were a one handed weapon. Sadly, that means you're taking a hefty -6/-6 on each hand using two-weapon fighting, but on the plus side you're dual wielding greatswords.

Large arms with a medium sized body will not alter equilibrium and balance of the body when using a large inertial weapon.

Strength may reduce the penalties better than a weak person, but balance is still required nonetheless.

Thanks to the magic of magic, it totally does.

You have over-sized limbs, allowing you to use Large weapons without penalty. is a variant tiefling ability.

Aha...I forgot...magic alters the physics of the world.

Good luck in getting armor to fit you.
There is always a price to some bonus.

Unless that archetype has seen errata, you can't do that.

There's no such price unless it specifically says so, which it doesn't. So the DM could rule that he needs to pay extra for custom-made armor, but that'd be a house rule.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

and then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like....

So at best I could dual weild a greatsword and a long sword. Or two bastard swords.

If you had proficiency, you could duel wield large bastard swords. It would more than likely be better to go with one large and one regular sized one.

The price is meant to address both monetary and prejudice.

The tiefling "popeye" may not get good responses by people because he is looking like a freak and may not have anyone sell or make things for him.
Depends on the GM of course, but the possibilities are there compared to a normal looking tiefling.

If you looked different from the normal type, would you be widely accepted in all places you go?
Money is nothing if no service is given.

That's still the realm of DM fiat. There's no rule that claims that any sort of tiefling needs to be shunned just because of what they look like. If that's how it is in the DM's word, that's one thing, but you can't claim that a tiefling is required to suffer such setbacks.
