Er, did you post on the PFS boards on purpose? Because the answer will be WAAAAY different for PFS than for general Pathfinder rules.
Is it Jiggy? I was under the impression (perhaps wrong?) that trade goods are still sold at full value - so if my PC were to buy 50 gp worth of gems/jewels that he/she could sell these later for the full value. This is different from most equipment that sells for 1/2 value - but a pound of silver bars would still sell for 5 gp. even in PFS. Correct?

@nosig - But why would a PFS character be buying and selling trade goods? The loot you find in the adventure (sometimes described as jewelry) is part of the monetary reward listed on the chronicle sheet, so its resale value is irrelevant. And if you bought jewelry for your character, why would you want to sell it back anyway? Presumably you bought it with the intent of, you know, having it.
I guess I've just seen so many people think that either they could sell found items for extra gold, or needed to calculate the final gold by tallying up resale values, that I assumed the OP might be in a similar position. Perhaps I was mistaken.

I normally see it first in First Steps III, when the PCs are going to a Party and want to dress nice...
The (1st level) PC sinks 50gp into "jewels" so as not to look like a rube at the party - then needs to buy gear (sometimes even in that adventure). I've seen (and advised beginers to do) it in several other low level games.
Also, in going into some adventures my PCs will buy spices to offer as "bribes" - or trade goods. Very much an RP thing (most recently in RoRM)... and I hate to run out during the game. SO I often have some left over.
