Martial Artist and increasing magic of unarmed strikes

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Recently, Paizo introduced the game mechanics increasing the ability to overcome damage reduction for the monk's unarmed strikes. They put it in the Ki Pool.

Similar to the Abundant Step and other Ki pool-fueled abilities have there been in official clarification for the Martial Artist archetype that appears even more hosed?

thanks

Nothing as yet... the only reason I see MA of any use is as a 2 level dip forthe unarmed combat, evasion and wisdom bonus. Good for a low-gear fighter character.

Scarab Sages

It doesn't hose the Martial Artist, it doesn't affect him at all. Martial Artists use Exploit Weakness to overcome enemy DR. It let them overcome more types of DR than the standard monk before the change was implemented, it continues to do so now.

Also, I'll try and find you the link, but the author of the Martial Artist archetype had stated that you should use Improved Pain Points as the ability gained in place of Abundant Step, and increas the crit confirmation roll and DC bonuses by and additional +1.

Scarab Sages

And here's the link: Improved Pain Points (Ex): At 12th level, a martial artist's bonus from his pain points ability increases to +2. This ability replaces abundant step.

thanks!
