Monsters with sorc levels. a Question.

Rules Questions

Ok i want to stat up a Monster (Aranea to be precise) that has innate sorcerous abilities. i also want to give her some Arcane Blood Sorcerer levels. Does this bump up the caster levels she already has or does she have two different separately tracked sorcerer spells per day?

Normally you track everything separately. There are no hard and fast rules about that though, and if you are creating a new variant of a monster you can do what you want. Just try to keep it balanced with other creatures of whatever CR you are assigning.

Not a variant just a monster with Sorc level who happens to be able to cast sorc spells innately as well.

If you word it that they actually cast "As a _th level sorcerer", then yes they stack the same way that the "+1 level to existing arcane spellcasting class" would stack with normal sorcerer levels. They effectively get the sorcerer's "Spells" class feature without the others.

This would hardly be the first creature to have such an ability, either. Dragons and Rakshasas are notable creatures that cast as a _th level sorcerer.

Bloodline abilities and other class abilities will be based on her Class Levels, however her caster level and spells known will be based on her Class Levels AND her Racial Caster Level together.

For example, a 10th-level aranea sorcerer casts spells as a 15th-level sorcerer, but only has the class abilities of a 10th-level sorcerer.

ahh thats what i thought ravingdork and stabbittydoom.

or you can 'generically' advance HD which advances the spellcasting,
and give them eldritch heritage, although that doesn't get arcana.
