Druid feats

Advice

Sczarni

I play a druid with a boar companion. I tend to utilize shillelagh and Calm animal more then any other skills, what would you recommend a human take as feats for a druid who likes to hold his own in combat but also tends to cast whenever a support skill is needed.

What level are we talking about first?

Lets say levels 1-4. A relatively new player as well

Power Attack is the best feat for anyone who fights in melee without finesse or dual wielding (it's good for them, too, but not as much). If you're smacking stuff with an enchanted stick, it will serve you well as a 3rd level feat (you lack the Base Attack Bonus to take it at 1st).

All Druids should take Natural Spell eventually, probably right at 5th level.

I don't know what's good for a 1st level Druid--Toughness is ok, I guess. You can probably take anything you want and it would be fine.

Feats my wild shaping melee Druid/Fighter character is taking:

Power Attack
Weapon Focus: Bite (just about every animal I ever change into has a bite attack)
Toughness - Druids don't have high hit dice/level
Planar Wild Shape - apply the celetial or fiendish template to your wild shapes
Combat Reflexes (comes in handy in beast shaping into huge creatures)
Powerful Shape - awesome high level feat for a wild shaper build

Edit: Natural Spell is one of the best possible feat you can get for a wild shaping druid!

If you aren't against the idea of bumping your companions intelligence to or above 3 I would HIGHLY recommend picking up a matching Teamwork Feat for yourself and the Boar, such as Tandem Trip, or even Duck and Cover as a great defensive boost for both of you.
