I am looking at the ring of continuation as a possible bonded object for a wizard. My issue is that with the current FAQ this item has very little uses. The list of usable spells is fairly small and those spells that you would use can be had on objects for much less money.
Freedom of movement - ring for cheaper
See invisibility - many objects including a crystal ball which gives you scry. All cheaper.
I don't care for using 1 hr/lvl spells on it as those can be used almost all day by the time you get enough cash to own the ring. I also don't care for lvl 9 spells as I will never get there (this stipulation removes the best spell choice - Shapechange).
Anyone found good use of this ring? Do you all feel that the FAQ makes this ring overpriced in most situations?

I agree that the ring has VERY limited usefulness with the FAQ update. The FAQ was created to prevent people from using it with things like "Timestop", but I don't see why they had to go all the way to 10m/level and couldn't stop it at 1m/level to allow things like low-end polymorph effects. For 56k, I really don't care if they turn that 1m/level spell into an all day spell. I can see 1 round/level being a problem, though, with amazing spells like Divine Power.

It was pretty useless for my bard. I got excited when we found one, and then realized that not a single one of the bard's spells known qualified. Ended up trading it for a Ring of Freedom of Movement.
Obviously the original version had some problems, but I think they may have fixed it too far in the other direction. Either extending it to 1 min/level spells or alternatively allowing its use with touch-range spells that you cast on yourself would probably be just fine.

Does the ring of continuation (Ultimate Equipment, page 168) allow you to cast time stop with a duration of 24 hours?
This item has had some unintended consequences and needs a fix. Change the second sentence of the description to read as follows: "Whenever the wearer of the ring casts a spell with a range of personal and a duration of 10 minutes per level or greater, that spell remains in effect for 24 hours or until the wearer casts another spell with a range of personal (whichever comes first)."
If you read down into the comments on the first page you can see a list of all spells thgat meet the requirements of the ring.
-Personal
-10 min/lvl or greater
It's a pretty small list that only has a few useful spells I would want for 24 hrs. Unfortunately those are also spells that have already been turned into magic items.
Stabbitty: Completely agree. This would be an awesome ring if it would work for the lower polymorphs and some of the other 1min/lvl spells. As it is I just don't see it being worth it's cost....unless you are a lvl 19 wizard who uses shapechange.
