Phyllain wrote:Bludd, I can see our two groups clashing against each other all the time and then after our employers settle their dispute laughing it off in a tavern. I hope you hold the same view. And of course should anyone come along and say all these bandits and assassins need to be stomped out of existence, well wouldn't that be fun for us. :)I don't see why we would frequently clash?? Actually, considering the lack of any plans for an evil settlement, if there is one, we would likely belong to the same settlement.
Looking at the forum landscape, bandits and assassins are essentially in the same boat. Slim pickings for settlement choices.
If you are aware of one, I'd be happy to get a PM.
Depends how one plays their assassin. If played carefully, an assassin could end up being very lawful, which would give them different settlement choices than your typical bandit.
Given that, I'd see more benefit to assassins, bandits, etc. trying to work out deals on shared hideouts rather than worrying too much about whether they can access the same settlements

From the sounds of it, We will require to be in a company that belongs to a settlement (one of your three, and only one of them). The two main evil settlements that have spoken on the forums are Shadow Haven (not sure if still active/planned) and Acheron. I'm sure there are actually quite a bit of evil planned settlements, either by lurkers or people just not showing their true feelings here on the forums.

Unfortunately both of those settlement plans are gone. Nihimon has abandoned the NE Shadow Haven and went to ally himself with TEO. Andius will not associate at all with evil.
The Acheron settlement has been abandoned because of Dancey's CE alignment will suck and is for a-holes. Not even sure if those 5 - 11 guys are even interested in the game anymore. So much for not encouraging people to leave?
We can discuss further in TS later tonight.

I would ask you to step mischaracterizing what I am doing, because you're wrong, and you've been consistently wrong when you've done it in the past.

@Phyllain, Shadow-Haven was originally proposed by Ravening, a Member of The Seventh Veil. He has since indicated that he is unlikely to take part in PFO, but he's also been on these boards a few times since then.
As you well know, I am personally interested in supporting an Evil-aligned Settlement, and The Seventh Veil has no qualms about it either.
Please do not get your news about me or The Seventh Veil from Bluddwolf, he is not a trustworthy source of accurate information pertaining to those subjects.

I stand corrected and apologize, I was under the impression that the Shadow Haven settlement was on a back burner or at the very least, not dedicated to supporting evil.
The Settlement Acheron has been scrubbed as I stated before, due to Ryan Dancey's comments about Chaotic Evil characters and settlements. That in fact true because I received a PM stating it.
Again, apologies if I had mischaracterized your plans to have an Evil settlement.

The Settlement Acheron has been scrubbed...
I hope you'll forgive me if I take that with a grain of salt, at least until I hear it directly from Anathema.
This is his last post in the Acheron thread, and it doesn't sound like he's announced he's declared he's "scrubbing" the idea. Nor does the single post he's made elsewhere since then.
@ Bluddwolf I thank you for the information Bluddwolf. I have also been keeping abreast of the Developer's postings. There have been a great deal of interesting hints and details posted in the last couple of days. There is much to ponder and much to consider.

Hey Phyllain, up for a challenge :D? Let us, the Bloody Hand, start the first main Evil Settlement. We can have it be NE, and accept anyone, as long as they're aware of the "Evilness" of it. We can still go on with our plans from working within the shadows, and can even do our part from the shadows since it takes multiple Companies to get a settlement running. We don't need to run it, just get it started for now, and support it. We can find/ wait for people interested in the project. The game is still a year from even EE. but we can bring together the needed ppl to create the Settlement. I for one am willing to put in a little extra time to get it going.

Just a good old fashioned bump. Any one lurking on these forums want a home where they can PVP to their hearts content? Join The Order today. (note to self find someone to make a propaganda poster. )
In how good taste should said hypothetical poster be? On that note, I think the dwarven company should have a poster of a dwarven woman and a caption that says "want a moustache ride?" You know, cuz she has a moustache.

Name: The Bloody Hand (Formally: The Fraternal Order of the Bloody Hand)
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Preferred Alignments: NN/CN/LE/NE/CE
Ruling Body: Grand Master and Council
Role: Provide a destabilizing force in the River Kingdoms
Player Roles Accepted: We are a strictly militant order. We do not accept those who are primarily harvesters or craftsmen.
Website: coming soonIdeology: We stand as an Order of warriors, thieves and assassins for hire. Members will be expected to kill, and kill frequently. We claim no land, we live in the shadows. We take from those we can and complete our assigned contracts without mercy. We are for hire to any who can afford us. We will never break a contract.
Who Should Join: Those who don’t want the easy life of living in the Lawful and Good parts of society. Those that want to live on the fringe. Those who want an organization that will keep them in good coin and provide them ample targets of opportunity. We are an organization with room for advancement, if you show the guile and cunning. How hard you work will directly reflect how far you go… and how much you get paid.
Shameless Little Bump!

Oh, I have seen a poster for TEO and a poster for you guys....I am officially jealous. Where is mine?
Oh yeah, and I guess we can make one for UNC as well :-)
Feedback helps. My goal is to have a poster for each of the companies that are currently active on these boards - a sort of pioneer companies collection.
I'm still working on a few others, and haven't personally contacted all the leaders yet, but I have also gotten little feedback from some whom I have contacted.

@Blaeringr, the only criticism I have among the Bloody Hand and Empyreal Order posters (the only two I've seen) is that TEO's poster has blue text with a white border on a mostly blue and white picture. It makes it a little hard to read IMO. Other than that, the art is nice and the palettes for the art I feel are appropriate to the organizations. Hope that feedback helps (though perhaps you were only looking for feedback from the organizations themselves... if so just ignore me, I'm a nut)!

About halfway done reading through every dev blog again to refresh everything in my mind.
I'm so ready to play and start working my skills and reputations.
One of the things I have in my head is building a map room that houses a large marble representation of the River Kingdoms in the floor with scrolls upon scrolls of locations of hideouts, ambush points, trade-routes, and all the information a group of assassins could ever desire.
It is this if nothing else that ensures my main character will be the builder-type. The idea of specializing and seeing what 'capstone' ability a route like that will lead to intrigues the hell out of me.
Of course having a second character that is specializing as an assassin can only work that much better :P
