Greater Magic Weapon and the Defending / Guardian Property

Rules Questions

So let's say I'm a martial character with a +5 Guardian/Defending weapon, and I allocate all of my bonuses to the respective property. Now, say I have a potion of Greater Magic Weapon (+5) on my person, and decide to use it on the turn before I allocate and attack; would the Greater Magic Weapon be applicable with the allocation of the weapon's core enhancement bonuses to the Guardian/Defending property?

In other words, would a combination such as this allow me to have both a +5 to Hit and Damage as well as a +5 to AC/Saving Throws, or would it not work that way?

No it won't work that way. You still have a weapon that's +10 in properties no matter how you're using them. GMW can't raise that limit.

RAW, GMW does not raise any limit, especially since there is no limit for it to bypass. All of the weapon's Enhancement Bonus is allocated to the Guardian/Defending property, which is then applied to Saving Throws.

GMW does not even affect the limit of the weapon; here's the RAW:

Greater Magic Weapon wrote:

This spell functions like magic weapon, except that it gives a

weapon an enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls of +1
per four caster levels (maximum +5). This bonus does not allow a
weapon to bypass damage reduction aside from magic.
Alternatively, you can affect as many as 50 arrows, bolts, or bullets.
The projectiles must be of the same kind, and they have to be
together (in the same quiver or other container). Projectiles, but
not thrown weapons, lose their transmutation after they are used.
Treat shuriken as projectiles, rather than as thrown weapons, for the
purpose of this spell.

All it says is that it gives the weapon an enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls of +1 per 4 Caster Levels. I could have a +1 Weapon with a +9 total in properties, apply Greater Magic Weapon, and it would grant +5 to Attack and Damage rolls instead of +1 in terms of RAW.

Now throw Furious into the mix.

This has been discussed, the spell does not allow you to bypass the +10 limit for non epic weapons. That's +10 total no matter how it's split between enchantments and special properties. Just look up greater magic weapon and you'll find tons of threads on the subject all pretty much coming to the same conclusion.
