Are there many spells that affect the light level?

Advice

Hi

I'm making a fetchling summoner and wanted to take advantage of my concealment in conditions of dim light. I seem to remember there being a low level spell that adjusts the light level by one step (from bright to normal, normal to dim, etc). Is that just my imagination?

Also, clearly this spell I'm imagining isn't on the summoner spell list. Is there a feat for importing a spell from another spell lists?

Thanks!

z.

Darkness is level 2, Deeper Darkness is level 3. That's pretty much it--sure, a higher level spell might include the darkening effect here and there, but those are pretty much it for directly manipulating light levels down.

all hail fletchlings! this is a subject i've been researching ALOT. so far the only things i can find that change light levels are the darkness spells. however there is one such ability that lets you "import" spells like darkness from the sorc/wizard spell list. its called Shadow Evocation. its an ability from the Shadowdancer class talents that lets you use an Evocation spell of 4th lvl or lower from sorc/wizard spell list but has a spell resistance to determine if its real or not. an enemy who knows its not real only takes 20% of the effect. im still trying to figure out how a spell like darkness would be effected by this.

shadow evocation shows up alot in places so you might be able to get it faster somewhere else if you dont look at shadowdancer. i cant remember where else i was it tho.

found your reduced light level by one step thing!!!! check racial rules for fetchling under new magical items.

Darklight Lantern: This lantern does not burn oil, but
instead burns shadowcloy (see below). When shadowcloy
is used as its fuel, this lantern creates a strange, hazy
darkness that decreases the light level for 30 feet around
it by one step (Core Rulebook 172). Unlike when shadowcloy
is thrown at a single target, this haze does not decrease
natural darkness to supernatural darkness. One f lask of
shadowcloy fuels a darklight lantern for 1 minute.

Shadowcloy: This thin black liquid is stored in airtight
f lasks because it evaporates quickly when exposed to air.
Its cloying vapors cling to a target, obscuring vision for
a short period of time. You can throw a shadowcloy f lask
as a splash weapon with a range increment of 10 feet. A
direct hit means the target treats the ambient light as
one category darker than normal (Core Rulebook 172),
with a creature already in natural darkness treating it
as supernatural darkness. This effect lasts for 1 round.
A thrown shadowcloy f lask has no effect on adjacent
creatures or if it misses.

Awesome! Thanks guys!

Yeah its too bad. I'm kinda old, and I remember in 3rd and 2nd edition there were illusion spells and psionic powers that affected the light level. In particular 2nd edition psionicists could do that with a telekinetic power that affected light. I wish that kind of stuff existed in Pathfinder!
