is it possible to use prestige points to purchase an interpreter?

is there any vanity or anything that would allow you to have a translator as a follower? similar to a chronicler but able to translate 1 or more languages to common?

i wanted to play a character who could not speak common, and have a translator capable of translating his speech for his fellow adventurers. is there any way to do this?

That would certainly be one easy way an oracle PC could get around the Tongues curse!

You can't do that, because all Pathfinder Society characters have to speak Common. Partly because becoming a Pathfinder requires about 3 years of training anyway, and you'd better be able to communicate with everyone else in the Society, but also because if you could make characters that didn't speak the same language as everyone else, it would be a griefer's paradise.

There was a convention boon that does exactly this, but I have found no legal way to be incapable of speaking Taldane (Common in Golarion.) This didn't stop me from making a 5 Cha Dwarf who has a translator and only speaks in Dwarf while understanding Taldane (except in the direst of needs.)

Like Baron said, there is an interpreter convention boon this year that does exactly this. You pick 3 languages and he speaks those as well as Taldane.

Locally, we are ruling that since non-combat helpers "vanish" during combat, they are not there for Tongues-cursed oracles to benefit from it.

what if the character was mute?

Then you won't really be talking much during the session. Hope your allies took "Read Lips" as a language!

my wife has an Oracle with the Tongues curse, and she claims she speaks Celestial, but I know it's Portuguese - (which I do not speak). So, in the middle of combat, she'll be babbling away and you can tell she's saying something, as every now and again you can understand a name...
I had the Interpreter Boon, and never thought to give it to her (I assigned it to a different PC). Drat!
