[OSW's Summoner Homebrews]

Homebrew and House Rules

I really love the Summoner class, even with all it's board-brewed detractors, I think it is a beautifully creative and wonderfully versatile class. So here's a thread for some homebrewed options.

Please don't post your homebrew here, by all means PM me and we can work something out. Sorry to be a hardass, but it keeps the thread clean and more useful.

I'm currently working on some flaws for eidolons that grant evolution points, but first I thought I'd throw this out (pun intended) to see how folk like it. I still think it should weigh something, but I guess it's weightless when in the air...

I'm also interested in making a caveat that certain evolutions are unavailable, like the larger sizes, and also the participles of evolutions need to be wholly within the scope of the stone...

(Thanks to Elghinn Lightbringer for tweaks (especially alerting me to cracked and flawed, where I had three distinct stones) and pricing help.)

Quartz Decahedron (Ioun Stone)

Flawed: This stone grants 1 extra evolution point per stone, stacking up to 4 extra evolution points. These stones do not stack with non-flawed quartz ioun stones. Price: 16,000 gp.

See Inferior Ioun Stones for details on cracked and flawed variant stones.

Flaws...for eidolons...? How are you planning on getting past the very real issue of players just taking ones that won't affect their Eidolons?

That is what most of the development time is dedicated to!
And by making the flaws very real and very broad.

Then I'll remain cautiously optimistic that this can be made in a somewhat balanced fashion.

Thanks Cheapy! One of the biggest design considerations is echoed above with my notes on the Ioun Stone to do with the participles of 2, 3 and 4 - point evolutions - making sure you can't choose 4 piddly 1 point flaws to make your eidolon huge. Giving a concrete limit and working out what that is is uppermost in my mind right now, as is a caveat on what can and can't be flawed - base form equipage/chassis as it were, AND evolutions.

And yes, no flawed Limbs for Limbless eidolons etc...
