So, I'm in a homebrewed campaign and my friend who WAS playing a Cavalier decided that it would be a FANTASTIC idea to charge at an enemy who was hovering over a cliff edge...he missed the charge...DM rolled percentage die (stating that on a 1-5 he would run off the cliff, 6-100 he was fine)...well...he needs to bring a new character into our game -_-. He showed me his build. A Cruoromancer.
First impression: Aw sweet! I really wanted to see one in action!
Upon reading his spells known: Sweet mother of god, WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO GO BLASTY, WHY IS YOUR CHARISMA HIGHER THAN YOUR INTELLIGENCE...AGH!
Needless to say, he needs help, so he asked me, and I am asking you. I have his sheet in front of me right now (because I told him he wasn't allowed to use this, and my DM thanked me)
Suggestions in any way, shape or form are welcome and BEYOND appreciated.

That's what I told him, but then he said he wants to be a necromancer type spellcaster..then I showed him how terrible his spell list would have been for that. Now he's looking into spellslinger wizard/cleric (1 level in spellslinger, rest in cleric to increase DCs of his cleric spells through the gun). I know this works, since in spellslinger it says "any spell," but is it a viable option? Meaning, would it play well?

I showed him the Oracle...now he wants to take 1 level in Spellslinger, rest in Oracle of Heavens to take advantage of the Awesome Display revelation where you subtract your cha mod from your enemies' HD for illusion (pattern) spells, but we haven't found any on the Oracle spell list...the only ones we've seen are the ones not on the Orcale spell list that you get from the Heavens revelation. Are there more on there that we just aren't seeing?

Level 8...and he didn't really HAVE to die...but I was the only player willing to rescue him, so the party essentially let him die. Kinda dickish, I know, but I don't have any spells, so I couldn't fly down to get him from the bottom of the cliff, or heal him. He fell around 100 feet, and when the majority of the group said they wouldn't try to save him, DM ruled that the momentum caused from him charging on his mount made the horse land on top of him at the bottom...again...dickish

Man what.
That doesn't sound like a very fun scene, table-wise.

Once again I end up suggesting the Death Mage 3rd party class.
Charisma based, more necromancy than you could ever wish for AND a decent damage dealer. CAN be slightly OP if used correctly, but your friend doesn't seem like the biggest powergamer...

that's STILL only 20d6 damage, which is survivable at those levels. On average that would be about 70, which even a level 7 or 8 character could conceivably survive. Maximized that's 120 damage, which has a pretty good chance of killing a level 10, but it should not have been instant death.
A level 8 cavalier that does not pay particular attention to HP with an average of 14 Con and his favoredclass bonus in HP should have about 64 HP. 70 damage would not kill him, but by the time someone without the ability to fly, spiderclimb, glide, teleport or otherwise safely and quickly travel down the 100 feet with a similar speed gets there there is a good chance they bled out.
