Can magic items be worth more then 200k?

Rules Questions

In 3.5 there was a rule that no magic item could be worth more then 200,000 gold (although could be worth more using epic rules). I was curious if that rule had made its way over to Pathfinder?

Hm.

I guess technically an enchanted suit of armor or a weapon with a +10 enchantment could be. 200,000 for the enchantment, 300 for Masterwork + whatever the weapon costs normally.

But other than that I think the most expensive item in the game is 200k. I don't think it's a hard and fast RULE though, just a guideline.

No, but there could be magic items worth more THAN 200,000 gold. See what I did there? The word you wanted was "than," not "then."

Meanwhile, I see no cap listed in the rules anywhere. Frankly, I don't remember a hard and fast limit in 3.5, either.

Perhaps there simply is a limit to what these things can cost, based on how many powers are sunk into them, rather than a rule limiting it, per se.

yea there are several staves worth over 200k, i don't recall that rule in 3.5 either, especially because magic items in 3.5 cost more than that.

staff of power costs more than 200k in 3.5 and pathfinder

I believe for weapons and armor going past the 200k mark typically meant you were getting into epic items (over the +10 enhancement limit). So while it wasn't disallowed per se, it wasn't available for play in 'normal' campaign.

ah, that would make sense if we're just talking about weapons, since they have a cap of +10, which happens to be 200k. i was wondering why someone would think that.
