These rules might help.
Basically, adding +2 CR is equivalent to adding +2 levels of another class. After the party gains another 3 levels, you should lose one of these pseudo-levels.
Assuming you are currently level 8, with a +2 template, you count as a level 10 character. When you, and everyone else, have gained 3 more levels, you lose the part of the level penalty for the template. This means you will have 11 levels of magus (assuming you stay single classed) and your penalty for being a WtW drops from +2 to +1, giving you an effective level of 12.
It's complicated, honestly, and requires lots of work with your GM. Throwing out monster templates for PCs is a sticky situation.

Wow. Thanks for that clarification. We have a mixed level of characters but I will run it so that when I get up in effective 3 levels advance him accordingly at that point, then rinse and repeat again in 3 levels lmao. At that point he would be level 14 and no more cr penalty. That must also mean he will not gain the levels in Magus benefits till we move up 3 levels. This could be a long road lol

remember your only supposed to do it up to half the CR, so it's only the one level you get back.

Thanks for that. I guess I don't run into this much and was not sure if I just am changing the party ecl or if I progress at a different scale? I know it different then D&D. I also use hero lab and they does not seem to adjust anything.
I appreciate the help and if there was a simple thing to use it would help lol
