Tech Demo

So I have been waiting for the tech demo release for Kickstarters and it's been a couple of weeks since they said they were just compiling video for it but I still have not heard anything about it. Is it out already? If it is where was the link?

I don't think it's out yet. Probably real soon, I thought I read it was supposed to be out last week. Maybe this week. :)

We are pushing to get the Technology Demo video in the hands of the Kickstarter backers this week.

That was posted "Wednesday, November 21, 2012". I would imagine they are trying very hard to get it out to us, but that the holidays got in the way.

6 people marked this as a favorite.

I hope its late. Then a troll can post about how the devs lied to us and this will finally feel like a mmo forum.

Ryan mentioned the costs involved, so that may be something we'll hear about:

Unless there's some unexpected NDA complication, I expect we'll make a fairly full accounting of how that money was spent once the Tech Demo is complete. I think it will be an eye-opening thing for a lot of people to see how much even a very small MMO project costs.

I'd assume they want players to start playing and generating revenue from the game more than another kickstarter. As the above indicate, the costs are huge, so ks would be a drop in the ocean?

Only exception I could hazard a guess at, would be for dungeon modules but not something I guess would be urgent anyway for a good while?

It would take a record-breaking KS to meet the funding needs of PFO. I don't think that level of fundraising is possible without breaking the 4500 launch players design point by several orders of magnitude. That wouldn't be a deal breaker for many people, but it raises the development costs by another tier; KS can't raise enough money to give all the KS supporters a slot at opening. It might supplement an investor, but cannot provide all the startup capital.

Caveat: I didn't run the numbers myself, so my assumptions may not strickly reflect reality.

I haven't read it yet, but I just noticed this from today...

Tech Demo - Update # 37.

[Edit] Looks like they'll be posting an update sometime today that includes the first video.

Sounds reassuring and like everything is going fine. :)

Thanks Nihimon! My mantra for today has been "Update #37...".

So they've secured investment? Thank you GW's: Shows the use of KS funds has been timely and successful.
