Rules Questions

Quick question does starting a battle dance cause enemies within range to receive an attack of opportunity against me?

If i start a battle dance next to a melee enemy does that enemy get an attack of opportunity???

Nothing in the abilitiy description states that you provoke an AoO and you don't really move even if it'S a move action so why should it?

At least if you are asking about the bard archetype dawnflower dervish. There are more than one archetypes with that name.
perhaps next time you could be more specific.

Perhaps i can clarify. If i start a dance battle dance as a move action next to an enemy do i provide an attack of opportunity?

Scarab Sages

No.

My Dm Seems to disagree is there any rules that i can read to help clarify. I looked at pg 180 - 183 on AoO but i don't have anything conclusive from that.

Thanks!

Check out the table here.

Battle Dance is a variation of Bardic Performance. With the exception of Suggestion, Mass Suggestion, and Frightening Tune, Bardic Performances are Supernatural abilities. Using a Supernatural ability does not provoke an AoO unless the description of the ability specifically states that it does. Bardic Performance and Battle Dance do not state that they provoke, so the general rule applies.

Suggestion, Mass Suggestion, and Frightening Tune, being Spell-Like Abilities, will provoke. Bit of an odd distinction there, but that's how the rules read.

In case your GM is a real stickler, the rules on supernatural abilties can also be found in the CRB on pages 183, 221, and 555.

(It is found under standard actions on 183)

Thanks Weirdo! that was very concise. I am sure he won't be able to disagree with that.
