Acrobat (Rogue archetype) re-write

Homebrew and House Rules

I was always intrigued by the thief-acrobat in old editions, and finally played on in 3.5. I am not much impressed by the PF version, so here is my rewrite.

***

Acrobat
Agility and daring are both excellent rogue traits, and their confluence can create spectacular feats of acrobatics. Whether they are daring thieves, infiltrating assassins, or intrepid spies, proper training in acrobatics is a valuable boon for rogues.

***

Expert Acrobat (Ex)
A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Acrobatics skill checks. A rogue can use dexterity in place of strength when making Climb skill checks.

This ability replaces trapfinding.

Agile Movement (Ex)
At 3rd level, a rogue can nimbly move around her enemies, giving her a +1 dodge bonus to armor class against attacks of opportunity caused when she move out of or within a threatened area. This bonuses rise to +2 when the rogue reaches 6th level, to +3 when she reaches 9th level, to +4 when she reaches 12th level, to +5 at 15th, and to +6 at 18th level.

This ability replaces trap sense.

Deft Drop (Ex)
At 4th level, a rogue can safely fall from great heights. When the rogue makes an Acrobatics skill check to ignore the first 10 feet she has fallen, she can ignore an additional 10 feet for every 10 points by which her skill check beats the DC.

This ability replaces Uncanny Dodge. At 8th level she gets Uncanny Dodge instead of Improved Uncanny Dodge.

Verdant Wheel

i would keep both Uncanny Dodges, drop the ST to climb thing, and fold Deft Drop ability into Expert Acrobat - might even allow minus 10 feet per 5 by which DC exceeded*

*this could be instead worded "When the rogue makes an Acrobatics skill check to ignore the first 1d6 falling damage, she can ignore an additional 1d6 damage for every 5 points by which her skill check beats the DC"

otherwise, i like this very much!

I struggled with how many features to alter, and with wording. I worded Deft Drop so as to remain true to existing wording. I had wanted to include Climb thematically, but to make it's mechanical boost only a small part of the class.

you could 'add Climb thematically' by adding a 'suggested rogue talent' entry.

i would totally play this archtype.

I originally included suggested rogue talents, but I think most players can figure those out without being handed a short menu. :)

And thanks for your input.
