Some Questions about Shields

Rules Questions

I've been thinking about shields lately and a few questions came up in my mind.

1. Can you use two shields at once, one in your right hand and one in your left? If so, do their shield bonuses and enhancement bonuses stack?

2. A blocking weapon (like a Tonfa) can give a shield bonus. Does this bonus stack with a shield you are holding in your other hand? I think there are other circumstances where you can gain small additional shield bonuses and I'm wondering if they stack.

3. Since you can attack with a shield as if it is a weapon, I see that you can enchant it with weapon bonuses as well as armour bonuses. Do you have to pay 50% more for the less expensive power, as you do for wondrous items when stacking enchantments?

4. The "Bashing" property gives the weapon a +1 enhancement bonus for attacking, but is a shield property, not a weapon property. If I also include weapon enhancement bonuses, do they stack? If not, do I add weapon enhancements assuming the shield is already +1, or do I have to give it a +1 weapon enhancement which does not stack before going to +2?

5. Can I get a shield with weapon properties that include the "Defending" property? The wording of the defending property is that it can transfer its attack bonus to AC as a bonus "that stacks with all others." If yes this would mean that I could add any points of attack bonus I wanted onto the shield's AC bonus - seems like it might be broken, though it would also be quite expensive, so maybe not.

Thanks,
Peet

1) Yes, and no.

2) No, shield bonuses never stack.

3) Yes, and no.

4) No, no, and yes.

5) Yes, but debatable.

Not only that, but if you have it enchanted as a +5 defending weapon and a +5 shield as a shield and have shield mastery, you could transfer all +5 weapon enhancement into defense and get the +5 shield enhancement to attack and damage still...I love shield mastery for my shield users.
