Adding Tiefling racial template on top of another base class

Rules Questions

Have a PC that has added a custom rolled Tiefling template on top of the Kitsune base race. Does the player get the benefits of both races racial traits? Such as the spell like abilities of the Kitsune with the alternate racial traits he rolled for the Tiefling that replaced the Tieflings spell like abilities. Source books being the Advanced Race Guide and Blood of Fiends Companion book.

might want to put it in the race builder. It's up to the GM (I think I would have them choose a few of the racials. I know half-elves don't get the awesome bonus feat a human does nor the awesome spell casting abilities of the elf.

Sounds like this belong in the houserules/homebrew section.

Why would it be houserules/homebrew when I'm asking how the rules would be as written? If your adding more than one race template to a PC do the racial traits stack?

Grand Lodge

Custom template, is a Homebrewed template, using houserules.

I thought teiflings only differ from their base race in terms of size? i.e. no, you don't get both sets of benefits. Advanced Race Guide is GM's call whether they allow it, as are any non-core races.

tieflings are not a template, that is why blackbloodtroll said that.

RAW a tiefling is just a tiefling no matter what exactly his parents were.
So adding the tiefling stats to some other race stats doesn't work RAW.

I do not get was exactly you mean with custom rolled tiefling template but the only thing that can cange according to parent race when you build a tiefling is the size.

Instead of a spell like ability the Blood of Fiends Companion book gives a VARIANT TIEFLING ABILITIES chart. I have moved my question to the Homebrew section since I do see where this probably fits there more. Thanks for the additional answers. Thinking I'm going to be going with Tiefling being a Tiefling no matter what his parents were. Just need to find what I'm going to point to as the reason beside "because I said so."

It states so in the Blood of Fiends book. The Pathfinder Tiefling book.

You can even have small, or large Tieflings, as they can come from any humanoid race.

When I was explaining it to the player we reread that part of the Blood of Fiends and saw where it said the difference between non-human Tieflings and human Tieflings is purely a matter of size. Thanks everyone!
