Can the stonelord who gets earth channel in stead of channel energy take channel feats or use items that are activated with a channel, like a sanctified shield?
At 4th level, a stonelord gains Elemental Channel (earth) as a bonus feat, which she may activate by spending two uses of her lay on hands ability, using her paladin level as her effective cleric level.
This ability replaces channel positive energy.

A sanctified shield may be any type of shield (including bucklers, tower shields, and even magical shields). When activated, a sacred shield adds a +1 sacred (if positive energy) or profane (if negative energy) bonus to the wearer’s Armor Class. This bonus lasts for 24 hours or until the wearer is struck in combat, whichever comes first. Creatures other than the cleric are able to use the charged shield and this ability.

I'd say you probably could not use Sanctified Shield, because it specifies the effect based on whether you channel positive or negative energy, and the Stonelord would not be able to channel either (he can only channel to either heal or harm earth-based outsiders.)
ok, my guess would have been that I can't take the feats but the shield would work.

If it was an option that you could CHOOSE to use instead of normal channel energy, it would be fine, but because you're REPLACING channel energy with elemental channel, which doesn't let you channel positive or negative energy.
I guess you are right that this was the intend.
Pure RAW I understand that this ability does nothing at all, because elemental channel does nothing without channel energy as it is only a variation of it.
And this fact that the ability is rather unclear as what it really does I asked.
Normally it's clear that you can't use addons to X or variations to X if you don't have X.
But as I here get a variation to X and lose X at the same time and still it is meant to do something. Like to exchange my nonexistant X for my variation Y.
