Newbie Racial Trait Question

Rules Questions

Sczarni

Hey all,

I was hoping you could shed some light about a question I had. I read in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play that at creation you could choose up to two traits to give your character. In the core rulebook however it has many things listed under traits. For example in the half orc section it has: +2 ability modifier, speed, size, dark vision, intimidation, orc ferocity, orc blood, weapon familiarity and language. I was curious which of these count as a trait as far as the only two limit and which where not?

Thanks

Traits that are referred to in the Guide are background options available in Advanced Players Guide and various other accessories. In general they tend to give bonus worth half a regular feat (for example +2 to initiative checks, +1 to one save, +1 to attack rolls in specific conditions, +1 to single skill and treating the skill as class skill).

You may find basic traits here.

Racial traits are completely separate concept. Each member of specific race gets all of his racial traits (except for those who were exchanged for alternate racial traits from Advanced Race Guide).

Word of warning: there are racial traits described in core rulebook and there are race traits that are selectable traits from Advanced Players Guide.

It's unfortunate that Paizo flunked with naming these backgrounds "traits" while the term is already used.
