It seems strange but I think that druids (or clerics or any class with a domain) who take a nature domain that grants a familiar might qualify for taking the Improved Familiar feat - but I'm not certain.
(or any class that gains a familiar via another means - such as an Arcane Bloodline Sorcerer or someone taking Eldritch Heritage (Arcane) - do they also qualify for Improved Familiar?
Most ways to gain a familiar have rules for what to use as your wizard level for calculating your familiar's abilities. Seems like that could be used as part of the qualifying for Improved Familiar.
But that said I don't see why you would take say the Celestial version of a normal familiar via Improved Familiar - in exchange for a few Celestial features you seem to be giving up a lot (the bonus that familiar gives you). Unless I've missed something key? (for example do Improved Familiars gain the DR & SR via the Celestial Template over time? I didn't think Familiars gained the normal bonuses for higher HD over time - i.e. regular familiars don't gain feats or skill ranks as your character levels up (just get to use your skill ranks and HP and BAB)?
