We do have Adlets, which are humanoid. So maybe a playable variant the same way there are playable dark folk now?

Might have said this already, but...

* Half-Catfolk.
* Half-Dwarf.
* Half-Gnome.
* Half-Halfling (Quarterling?).
* "Dwarf"/"Dwarf Creature" simple template.
* Half-Axiomite (no Smite-Chaos please).
* Half-Gargoyle. Alternate Gargoyle and Half-Gargoyle trait: Statue (SU) instead of Freeze (EX).

Insane KillMaster wrote:

Anime Catgirls. I kind of see mixed reactions to that. (I'm all for it, though.)
Insane KillMaster wrote:

More likely a Three-Quarterling...

Dwarf-Halfling! Children with beards!

Yeah, it's the one that's still missing, given that we already have decendants from the various good, evil and chaotic outsiders.

Oh, and half-psychopomp or someother true neutral outsiders...

I treat androids as "Lawful Planetouched". Upgraded through tech rather than souls though.

I kinda want mask based creatures.

Not enough masks in this game to satisfy my gimmick :p

I didn't mean as in "We have a werebear skinwalker, live with it". I wasn't trying to oppose you ^^;

What I meant to say is that "in the meantime", you have a bear-like race, as a skinwalker. We can use that for our... bear necessities XD

Beside, since the skinwalkers have multiple bloodlines, it's understandable that they have one bloodline for each lycanthrope, including the weretiger. Hell, we even have a Rakshasa-blooded tiefling that LOOKS like a catfolk.

Milo v3 wrote:

I'm surprised about why we didn't get an Inevitable-based variant for androids by now.

Y'know... with Occult Adventures out AND with Occult creatures added in both the Occult Bestiary and Bestiary 5, there has been a lot of focus on emotions... if psychic magic wasn't enough :P

So yeah, a creature which can change masks, each with a related emotion and associated powers, would be great ^_^

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Because a inevitable based variant of an android would be a completely different creature and not really just a variant.

I not only would like to see a law based planetouched race but also positive energy, negative energy, dream, time, astral, and ethereal. Though some of these could just be humanoids infused/changed by these planes/dimensions instead of native outsiders.

Works pretty well in my experience. As for negative planetouched, well we have dhampir.

Beside... isn't that the point of a variant? to have a completely different creature?

Even then, an android with Inevitable ancestry wouldn't be much different. It would probably be more like a clockwork than more like a robot.

No, a variant is still related to the original creature. What your talking about is a complete overhaul to a new creature. Also none of those ideas are even close to what I am looking for.

It might be an upgrade. A true android with a lawfully programmed, cube shaped, positronic brain. It's mission would be to infiltrate mortal society, then turn in targets to inevitables. A caution on any player. The level of roleplaying would be hard. Some risk of,"Sorry, but your character can't do that."moments.

Yes, the horrible corruption factor of pure law and logic;)

I'm still not sure why it would be a complete overhaul.... but... Okay then?

JiCi wrote:

[...]

How... how... how would a creature that isn't born, has no ancestors, is an entirely artificial creation...

...how would such a creature have *any* kind of ancestry?

I could see an "android prototype" that's more clockwork-y, or a "half-inevitable" android that's a fusion of high tech and magical clockwork, but "ancestry" really is the wrong term here.

Also, I'm wondering if the reason there's no law-based native outsider is that the rigid perfection of unbound law makes purely lawful outsiders (Axiomites, mostly) always breed true. That's going to be my headcanon until we get an "official" lawful-based native outsider.

Ajit Shyama, Shadow Caller wrote:

You use inevitable technology to make them, and since inevitables are made of peoples souls it would have ancestors of a sort.

+1 Half-Psychopomp.

So young?

Milo v3 wrote:

If you're using the technology used to create Inevitables, then you're creating an Inevitable. Maybe an Android-inspired Inevitable, but it's an Inevitable. And while I can see the "the people whose soul you're made from are your ancestors" as a... viable stretch, and Android do have souls that pass on, and thus it's perfectly possible to make an Inevitable from the souls of Androids... that would be an Inevitable with (metaphysical and/or metaphorical) Android ancestry.

Not an Android with Inevitable ancestry (which would be an never-born being having an infertile ancestor..).

And all this "Inevitable ancestor" makes me itch to make an "evading my ancestors" joke, but I really can't think of any.

And I'd suggest calling the "Dwarf Creature" "Small Creature" instead. Less likely to cause confusion =P (Young doesn't exactly work - it suggests lack of age, not *only* lack of size)

Milo v3 wrote:
Insane KillMaster wrote:

Nope, Stat adjustments are a bit too steep.

"Small Creature" might be a misnomer, Giant refers to Gigantism/Giantism, while Dwarf refers to Dwarfism.

So we can finally have humans who have dwarfism and not just the mythical creature called dwarves. That would be interesting.

If we get a half-psychopomp template then I want a half-aeon one as well.

Why not just delete any plans for Bestiary 6 and create Races Bestiary 1. It seems that is what everyone wants most.

Nightterror wrote:

I'd say I'd be fine with advanced race guide 2, but I still want my dropbear stats :P

I also want drop bears because a koala based monster and more creatures from Australia even if it was just a joke.

I would like to see a fey creature that can detach it's head and it's head can mentally control it's own body. Of course it would be immune to decapitation. though I am not sure if could regrow a new head if the original is destroyed or a new body if that is destroyed.

Do not forget the accidental completely not intended "Australian" Huntsmen spider stats, since there is Giant Crab Spider stats which perfectly reflect huntsmens (also known by the name Giant Crab Spider) except they are the size of Dogs. So... you can use those as part of the myth that all spiders are giant in Australia.

.... Though Giant Giant Crab Spiders could be fun. :P

There's also stuff that fits in pretty easily... Megalania, Thylacines, that sort of deal.

Not gonna lie though, more supernatural monsters from Australian myth would rock.

Thylacines are actually already in the bestiaries.

So are Megalania. That was my point.

While researching Australian mythical creatures, I just came across a Call of Cthulhu supplement entitled Terror Australis. It includes a nice, sizable list of Aboriginal creatures, including many I had not heard of.

So wich ones are the ones you haven't heard of?

It would be nice if people instead of only posting names (i can't find anything about on even google) also posted a tiny, little bit of information about the creatures as well, so we know at least something more than a name.

Like, I could have skipped throughout that entire Australian Mythology monster list if I knew that 90% of them were just Gods and Goddesses, which I really don't care for.

Something Beholder-esque. Want to send one of these at a party I am gming for. But can't find a pathfinder variant.

Like really, try the first creature of Bestiary 5.

Nightterror wrote:

Yeah, that's one of the reasons my list is short, only gods/goddesses it lists are ones with specific supernatural abilities that they do that could relate to combat, rather than listing "Fertility goddess #145".

It is not like they can't base a unique creature or species of creatures on a deity.

Dragon78 wrote:

Oh of course, it's just harder to do that when the only info you have is "This guy is god of x for the Kuringgai tribe", without any physical description or description of what sort of acts they are capable of.

Dragon78 wrote:

Those Gods look mostly like humans and are creation/fertility Gods/Goddesses, and if they aren't human they are Rainbow Serpent #2000, and still the coolest and most creature-like Rainbow Serpent is the A Book Of Creatures centipede-like Bushmaster-like serpent from South/mid America.

I know it wouldn't matter for you, as you like everything as a creature, but I wouldn't like seeing humanoid Gods and Godesses turn into normal creatures anyday.

So that list could be skipped for almost only real creatures (also unique creatures, but not deities) so it would be easier to find.

A creature called Cut-Cut is impossible to find on Google, it gives you 10.000 results without anything related to an Australian creature named that way, even if you put it like this: Cut-Cut Australian Myth you get none to zero result, so it would be best to give a description of the creature or a link, and if you lack the time just post 10 or less at a time with more features so it is easier to find information, as this is stressing me out as I really like more Australian critters, but the only ones I can find info about are the ones I already have, and the 10.000 different rainbow serpents.

Btw Milo, that Adnoartina you posted could be some Rock Reptile humanoids, you know the Rock Reptile from D&D 2nd edition? Well turn that into a Komodo Dragon like folk and you have a new reptilian race that can fake being a stone, imagen a group of big rocks lying around on a savannah-like environment only to turn into reptilians that ambush you and tear you to shreds.

The creatures I still want to see from Australian myth and which aren't rainbow serpents, featureless ghosts, fertility goddesses or creator gods are:

Drop Bear - And not comical or funny, a real dangerous animal.

Burrunjor - Maybe as intelligent tyrannosaurus/allosaurus-like creature, maybe even the pathfinder version of the Indominus Rex.

Nargun - A rock horror that lives underneath waterfalls and repels any attack, magnetic powers suit it so.

Wulgaru - While we already have wood and stone golems, these could be another construct.

Yara-Ma-Yha-Who - This one is so unique and so cool, it would be first priority.

Yowie - A an evil Sasquatch breed with large sabre-fangs and dirty red hairs.

Whowhie - Some giant komodo-dragon horror with 6 insect-like legs. It's glare frightens its victims, so maybe related to Basilisks.

Quote:

Admittedly, to me this just means they can just shove the names of those rainbow serpents (other than Julungguli obviously) onto new proteans.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

From Australia to Native Americans.

I found a very cool unique creature.

The Nida is an elephant-like earth spirit of Omaha and Ponca mythology. It may have been based on mastodon fossils. Nidawi is the feminine form of the name.

Which could be turned into something really awesome.

An Elemental or Undead, though I think with the overuse of humanoid undead, the NIda would be a perfect non-humanoid undead.

A living mammoth bone-fossil that mixes the earth element with it.

This creature would be an intelligent undead that can controll the earth in a bizarre way, it can dress itself in earth and rocks and mud, creating a bizarre earth-hide out of elements that make it appear like a mastodon/mammoth again, the trunk is made from earth/mud/rocks.

It also would have more abilities over the earth element, sand, mud, rock, crystal and bones.

Nida will be a fun undead creature!

Isn't Drop Bear's whole point that its funny prank/funny in the "Holy crap a koala dropped on you and mauled you to death"? :P

Yes, it is a joke, but jokes can be serieus.

And I want this Drop Bear and not this Drop Bear.

Some spiders and parasites also drop from trees onto humans/other prey, there is nothing funny about those, so why the Drop Bear must be a joke, because it isn't a hostile animal such as a crocodile and tiger?

Same with Almiraj, I can't believe people find it a joke only because its a bunny.

Most prevented deaths probably happen with cute little animals that turned violent, as you didn't see the danger coming. You would run from a tiger or manticore, but not from a bunny or koala bear, so death will be slow and horrible.

More monsters use cute animals as lure, like the Scottish Cirein Croin, a giant silver sea monster/serpent which takes the form of small, beautiful silver fish to lure humans close, only to transform back into the horrid sea monster and surprise its victims without battle. And don't forget the Wolf-in-Sheep's-Clothing.

It's not a joke because koala aren't hostile or viscous (they can be). It's cause.... it's literally an aussie joke.

Though, I find it abit funny the image you want the creature to be more like was the d20 modern drop bear.

People never had a taste for great things.

Funny they may look, horrible things they will do to your body.

You know what really is funny, hilaric and dumb? A Tyrannosaurus-like creature the size of multiple buildings, so big is is unbelievable, a thing so big only Japannese and Americans can love. So big that it needs more than al humans on 10.000 planets to destroy, as they are also immune to magic, bullets, slashing weapons, ranged weapons, you name it.

Yup. Plus I find it extra funny how gung-ho he is about drop bear .-.

Anyway, I do find it kinda surprising there isn't killer rabbit monster :P I mean, I guess designers for Pathfinders aren't into "jokey" monsters, but still.

They are into jokey funny monsters, you see Cthulu and the kaiju made it into bestairy 4.

Ratfolk made it in too, and Mi-Go too.

And the far from funny Almiraj is in Bestiary 4, it is on the very second or third page even, how you missed that is a wonder.

When the most famous examples of the type are either

1- Outright jokes (Monty Python & The Holy Grail)

or

2- Might as well be outright jokes (Night of the Lepus tries to scare. It fails.)

it tends to understate the terror to be had at their hands.

Especially since a lot of us eat rabbit on the semi-regular.

In general, prey animals have a hard time getting kick-butt versions. Especially small ones you can down with a slingshot.

We've got, what, a couple of types of stag in that subheading? You can reach and sorta place minotaurs and centaurs in that category?

I remember well that the bunny masked man in Donnie Darko was feared beyond fear.

And terror bunnies were much older than Monty Python or Quest for Glory 4.

They were from myth and cryptid legends, the most famous ones are the Almiraj and Wolpertinger, two types of chimerae that already made it into pathfinder.

That they appear as jokes in most media is because those same media wants to show them as jokes. If you are a good artist you can turn everything less jokey and freaky.

And of course the most boring mythological small critter (my hated Cockatrice) is scary and serious? I find that a joke.
