How broken would tank Marks (4thed) be?

Homebrew and House Rules

One of the few things I like about 4th ed is that tanks (normaly melee fighter types) have ways to keep bad guys on them. In Pathfinder, you can build a typical sword and bord char, and then see him never hit cus the bad guys know the wizard is easyer to hit. You can't force them to try to attack you (the intimidate stuff is fairly weak), so there is no MMORPG tanking.

So how broken would marks be?

The Exchange

Marks never really mattered in 4th at tables I was in.

In PF that S&B fighter still does good damage, making him self a real threat and target.

I don't see a -2 mattering at all, so it depends on the other boon of a mark.

Edit: intimidate and a feat can give -2 to everyone within 30' and fighters have tank powers like stand still, AoO to trip and step up.

You mean a Cavalier's Challenge?

Depends on the mechanics I suppose, but there are already a few similar abilities that may serve as precedent. Have you looked at the Antagonize feat? The Diplomacy variant is a pretty good substitute for the Mark with the exception that it takes a standard to activate. Even if this isn't close enough for you, I think it would work as a good baseline.

Pathfinder has different ways to tank than forcing people to attack you. Many of it is acting as a 'cork', using your threat range and feats to stop creatures from reaching your allies. There are also many feats and abilities that can give your ally a nice AC bonus to protect them. I have a friend that plays a shield fighter in this manner. He does respectable damage, but his whole goal is to be a good bodyguard. And him and a couple other players have the Shielded Wall teamwork feat, which is pretty nice.
