Vanity: Expert Entrepreneur - how does 10 or less work?

P19 in the Field Guide (Qadira) has a vanity called Expert Entrepreneur where it says:

Quote:

Expert Entrepreneur (Fame

10, 5 PP)Through your many connections with the merchants and traders of Katheer, you learn how to better earn money with your own entrepreneurial endeavors. Whenever you make a Day Job check (see pages 2–3), you may reroll any result of 10 or less. You must take the second result, even if it is lower. This ability may not be combined with any other ability
granting a reroll.

Does the highlighted part mean 10 on the dice? Or an end result of 10 or less (ie. 1gp or 5gp)?

This was obviously released before v4.2 of the PFS guide where we are now allowed to take 10 on day job rolls, so it seems largely redundant if it means an end result of 10 or less.

Official word on this would be great.

It's not redundant - it's an option for gamblers who want something better than what "take 10" would offer. The risk is that if you choose to roll (rather than taking 10), and get a low roll, you can't "take 10" on your re-roll.

For 5 prestige and a 10 fame requirement, it's severely weakened when you can just take 10 on it. That wasn't the case when it came out.

Either way, it's not clear if it's 10 before or after the dice roll.

It's on the dice roll. so roll the dice and it comes up 10 or less reroll, 11+ no reroll from that vanity.

Can't 'Take 10' on Job Checks.

Helaman, have you checked the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play, page 22?

“You may take 10 on a Day Job check, but you may not take 20 nor can you aid another.”

My bad.

It's a recent change. A lot of people haven't noticed yet.

Which is why I recommend reading the Change Log that Mike puts up when the Guide is updated.

After the dice roll.

That would only be true if taking 10 on a day job roll was better than actually rolling that d20. That generally isn't the case.
