Grease question

Rules Questions

If someone greases a weapon and the opponent makes his initial save, does he still roll every round that he tries to use his weapon?

"... The spell can also be used to create a greasy coating on an item. Material objects not in use are always affected by this spell, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect. If the initial saving throw fails, the creature immediately drops the item. A saving throw must be made in each round that the creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled."

The line "A saving throw must be made in each round that the creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item." would imply that is correct: additional saves would be required.

It's not 100% clear, but I believe that a successful first save (when targeting an object) negates the spell.

If the first save is failed... yes they would need to make a save every round. If they make the first save then no, because they avoided the grease all together.

Key sentence: "Material objects not in use are always affected by this spell, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect."

No saves required if the first one makes.

Liberty's Edge

It means, the initial save is to avoid grease getting on the weapon at all, and if you make the save the weapon is still clean. If you fail, then grease coats your weapon and you must make a save every round to either pick it up, or use it, as long as it is coated in grease.

Minor point, but it's pick up and/or use it. Only one save per round, so if you succeed at picking it up, you can attack with it that round without making an additional save.
