PFS Draconic Disciple?

Advice

Ok, here's the deal. I'm looking to create a PFS legal character with the intent of taking on the Draconic Disciple prestige class after 5th level. My initial thoughts are Draconic bloodline sorceror or Summoner with a draconic styled eidolon. I'd like for his primary function to be controller style caster. What would be the best stat spread for this and or which base class would be best? Thanks in advance.

Greetings, fellow traveller.

Have you read Oterisk's guide on the DD?

With focus on spells, I'd aim for a full caster with prioritizing CHA:

In general I'd go CHA>DEX>CON=INT>WIS>STR and take human (the usual: extra feat, bonus skill point, alternative racial trait for extra spell known) or half-elf as race.

STR 8
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 12
WIS 10
CHA 17 (+2 if human or half-elf/orc)

To me, the sorc is the best base class due to the given variety of spells available to her and it nets you the most when concerning bloodline powers and such.
But you already described the Summoner as base for your DD...

I wouldn't go for a summoner if you want DD. The summoner's main class feature is their eidolon, which would just be pathetic once you start multiclassing. I'd suggest using a sorcerer or bard as your base spellcasting class. Also, DD doesn't really make for the best controller caster; the prestige class requires a blasting-based bloodline, and you lose out on spellcasting levels, which are pretty important for a controller.

*Edit: I would second looking into Oterisk's guide. It is very well done.

if you go Pirate Bard (or Sea Shanty or whatever), you get a Familiar for free,
that you can upgrade with Improved Familiar to a PseudoDragon/FaeryDragon.
mid-level Bard Performance is still a nice buff for any party,
and you have the Bardic version of 'control spells'.
alternately, Magician Bard can pick up a few non-Bard spells.

why do you want to take Dragon Disciple if your goal is primarily being a controller caster? it doesn't really help that at all.

I'm just curious -- if you want to be a controller-style caster, then what benefit do you think you'll get from the Dragon Disciple class?

Yeah, this was also my "gripe" with this build, but if he's dead set upon this build...

Note that "I think it would be cool to turn into a dragon" is a perfectly good reason for taking the Dragon Disciple class, but it should be noted that being a draconic bloodline sorcerer gives you "turning into a dragon" for free, so to speak.

+1, and Robe of Arcane Heritage just accelerates the level you gain the Bloodline Abilities.
Or you can just take all the Eldritch Heritage Feats with pretty much any other Caster.

Absolutely, hogarth! I am in the same boat. Then again, I'd like my chars to be cool and effective.
