(tap) dancing shoes

If you wanted a masterwork ___ to get a +2 on your perform(dancing), should it be an instrument, artisan tools, or tool?

Is tap dancing (to get an audible component) any different from regular dancing (just visual) from a rules perspective? I can see needing to take performance (percussion) instead.

Would the same tools work for both?

There's nothing in the rules for a masterwork tool for dancing. The best you could do would be to homebrew a fancy costume, but even that's a stretch of reality. And tap shoes only work well on certain floors.

I remember a masterwork dancer's outfit from somewhere that gave a +2 circumstance to Perform(dance) but you had to wear the whole thing (including the shoes) and no armor. I'm searching the UE, but I can't find it.

Okay, I'm a de-railer, but I want to make Cursed Shoes of the Hoofer now.

They function as Boots of Striding and Springing, with a +5 circumstance bonus to Perform-Dance.

When you take damage there is a 10% chance you are affected by Otto's Irresistable Dance. If that happens, there is another 10% chance that EVERYONE has to break out in a song and dance number. Undead are explicitly not immune.

This become a 20% chance of both possibilities if the wearer is a Bard.

lol. If this wasn't for a PFS character, I'd give them a shot.

You can have a Masterwork Tool for any skill.

Pick up a Masterwork Tool(perform: Dance) and flavor it as tap shoes.

There is no houserule needed.

Now that I'm home, I've fired up HeroLab. It has a "Dancer's outfit, Masterwork" that grants a +2 circumstance bonus to Perform(dance), but doesn't give the source listing, so I can't tell you what book it's from.

No clue. It sounds like a flavored up Masterwork Tool.

Great, thanks!
